Captain Roles and Duties
  
Mahomet-Seymour Boys Captain Roles and Expectations

1)   Cheer on teammates in practice and meets
2)   Cheer on opposing teams' runners in the finish line shoot
3)   Run the summer running program, call others to join, pick up the younger runners
4)   Be one of the most positive runners on the team (be the runner that motivates others in practice, the one who compliments a teammate after a good effort, the one who is a good influence both in school and outside of school)
5)   Make efforts to stop any complaining on the team
6)   Run our morning run program
7)   Earn good grades
8)   Have a good relationship with your teachers
9)   Go overboard to take freshman and new runners under your wing (be like a good older brother, a protector, a mentor)
10) Stop any teasing if it goes on
11) Discourage any cutting, reduced efforts or negative talk
12) Ralley the troops for warmups and at the starting line
13) Encourge proper stretching and warmdown in practice and meets
14) Inform coach of any potential problems early
15) Attend the pasta parties, drive the younger runners if needed, encourage good behavior, and thank parents as you leave
16) Try harder than 90% of the team with great intensity and effort
17) Keep the locker room quiet in meetings
18) Be the last on the bus to clean it up
19) Encourage others to have fun even in the most challenging physical workouts
20) Do not participate in anything that is illegal, follow training rules, and discourage your teammates from breaking any rules
21) Run track to increase intensity and to get in better shape
22) Lead thank yous to cheerleaders, managers, parents, etc.
23) Be proud of yourself for the leadership you are giving to your teammates
