Second Annual Teacher Fun Run Race Mahomet-Seymour has very supportive teachers. Many of our teachers go out of their way to help our student/athletes on a daily basis. Our team appreciates the hard work they do and invites them to join us in a fun run. Our teachers do a great job of running on little training. Teachers are given the option of either running 1 mile or 3 miles. Our boys team is divided into equal groups to race against the teachers.

Gary Garrison - Former counselor, social studies teacher, football coach, basketball coach, and track coach for SJO. Coached 2 State Championship track teams. Former Illinois State University Track Runner, Coaches cross country and track for MS.

Neal Garrison - MS High School Guidance Counselor, Cross Country Coach, Former Track, Softball, and Volleyball Coach.

Shauna Gough - MS High School English Teacher, Former MS Cross Country runner and Varsity Cheerleading Captain.

Chay Hay - MS High School Math Teacher, Peace Club Sponsor and Wrestling Coach, Former University of Illinois Wrestler, 2nd year participant of the teacher fun run.

Brett Hersom - MS High School Social Studies Teacher, Boys Basketball Coach, 2nd Year participant- Winner of the 3 mile Teachers last year, 1986 Iowa State Cross Country Participant, 1987 Iowa State Cross Country Participant, 1993 Drake Relays Marathon Participant, Mr. Hersom will be competing again with his 2 Rottweilers: CY and Manhattan

Germaine Light - MS High School Science Teacher, 2nd year Teacher Fun Run runner, Former Zoo Keeper, Former City Bus Driver.

Angie Link - MS High School Social Studies Teacher, Currently MSHS Intramural basketball sponser, Former BHS dancer.

Amy Lybarger - MS High School Social Worker, Former Urbana Cross Country Coach, Former HS Track Captain, Set her school record in the mile her senior year, Most recently competed int he mini-triathalon in 2004 and 2005.

Gina Morphew - MS High School Mathematics Teacher, Current Cheerleader Coach,

Eric Potter - MS High School Science and Math Teacher, coaches cross country, scholastic bowl, WYSE team, Math team, most recently completed a triathalon this summer.

Jim Risley - MS Jr. High Teacher, Former Volleyball, Wrestling, Cross Country, Track Coach. Coached the girls track team to win a state championship. Claims to be the heaviest runner to attempt the event. Once benched around 500 lbs.

Dan Ryan - MS High School Math Teacher, Most recently ran the Indy half marathon.

Brian Schwartzentraub - MS High School Business Teacher/Baseball Coach, Former Illinois Weslyan University Football and Baseball Player, Currently training for a half marathon in October.

Nathan Seal - MS High School Social Studies Teacher, Coaches 3 sports-cross country, girls basketball, and girls soccer, always looks a little angry, Former Train Engineer.

Jeff Starwalt - MS Junior High School Principal, Took home a 5th place medal in the 1976 St. Joseph Junior High Cross Country Invitational because the runner in front of me took a wrong turn. Completed the Chicago Marathon in 1999 and 2001.

Travis Titsworth - MS High School Science Student Teacher, coaches cross country and basketball, Former Cross Country Sectional Meet Qualifier in high school.

Pat Warren - MS High School Guidance Counselor, Former volleyball coach, Plans to run 5 yards as long as she can take water breaks and get a golf car to drive her back to the start.

Marty Williams - MS High School Principal, Coached wrestling and track. Coached our wrestling team to several State Championships, Former University of Illinois Wrestler.

      The Teacher Fun Run went well last night. The boys from the XC team were divided into 4 equal teams. The teachers had a separate team. The teachers were given the option of running either 1 or 3 miles. The 1 mile times were added to make a total 3 mile time. The boys cross country captains agreed to give the teachers a 1 minute handicap.
