Race #2 During the 7.65 mile point of an 8 mile run the day before a race, Steve Roberts versus super competitor Jacob Mahaffey had a second title belt race. Steve rose to the challenge to defend his belt. With the heckling from Gabe Walder, Mahaffey took off to build a large lead. Steve played possum and acted like he wasn't racing. As Jacob backed off, Steve made his sprint move. Mahaffey responded and they sprinted the final 200 meters of their 8 mile run. In the end, area sophomore leader Steve Roberts won the challenge to a strong opponent Mahaffey.

The title belt is an award to encourage runners to be competitive.
The title belt is an old plastic WWF belt that is duct taped. The
rules of the title belt are fairly simple. The current title belt
holder has the title belt until they are challenged by another teammate.
Any teammate can challenge the current title belt holder to any reasonable
race. The challenge can be a short or long race, an obstacle course,
or any unique challenge that requires a competition to arise.
