Evan Monson - Senior:  Evan is a forth year high school cross country runner.
Evan shows a great amount of commitment and determination to himself and the team.  His ability to run through discomfort is one of the best on the team.  He continues to improve his time as a result.

During the summer before his sophomore year, Evan ran constantly and it shows.  Evan cut off around 7 minutes from the start of his freshman year to his sophomore year.  Evan earned our most improved fresh/soph runner of the year his sophomore year.
As a junior, Evan continues to improve.  He often runs and races in the off-season.  Evan continues to run minutes faster each year due to his desire to run PRs. Evan medaled at the Olympia Invitational in the open race by placing 23rd.  Evan ran a personal best of 23:52.  He improved 1 minute and 37 seconds from his sophomore year.
As a senior, Evan started the season the strongest physically and mentally ever.  He has improved more over a 4 year span than I have ever seen an athlete improve.  He sets our team standard for the future runners to see who can improve the most over 4 years.
By mid-season, Evan was running life time best times.  Evan improved another 39 seconds between his junior and senior year.  Evan ran a lifetime personal best at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational with a time of 23:19.  He worked his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leader list in October.  His first race of his freshman year was 34:16.  His slowest time his first season was a 36:47.  He ran in the 30 minute range for 10 of his 11 races his freshman year.  He improved 10 minutes and 57 seconds from his first 3 mile race as a freshman to his senior personal best.
