John Prillaman - Sophomore

John is a second  year high school cross country runner and one year returning letteman.   Son of Mike and LuAnn Prillaman.
    As a freshman, John came to us with lots of experience from the jr high level.  John was one of the state's best cross country runners during his 8th grade year.  He adjusted quickly to the high school training and racing.  He stepped right into our top 7 which few freshman have been able to do in the past.  John earned a spot in our fastest top 20 freshman on our home course.  John earned a medal at the Charleston Invitational by placing 5th in the  Varsityrace.  He medaled at the Springfield Invitational by placing 2nd in the Freshman race.  He medaled at the Eureka FS Invitational after winning the meet.  John earned a medal at the East Peoria Invitational by placing 2nd in the Fresh/Soph race.  He earned a medal in the fresh/soph race at the Olympia Invitational by placing 2nd.  He earned a medal at the Mahomet-Seymour invitational by placing 30th.  John worked his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leader list in September and October.  He earned a spot in our top 10 all time freshman list at the Charleston Invitational, the Springfield Invitational, Eureka Fresh/Soph Invitational, Peoria Notre Dame Invitational, East Peoria Invitational, Olympia Fresh/Soph Invitational, & Mahomet-Seymour Invitational.  John ran a lifetime 3 mile best of 16:25 which he ran at Conference.  John earned all conference status by placing 6th in conference.  John placed 5th in the Regional meet.  He was recognized as honorable mention  in the News Gazette's high school athlete of the week on October 18.
     As a sophomore, John came out and is more confident and strong than when he joined the team a year ago.  He is quickly getting into shape and should once again be one of the top runners in the area.  In John's season opener he ran 3rd for the team with a time of 17:47.  John cut off slightly more than a minute during his second race to run a time of 16:45.  He earned a medal at the Charleston Invitational by placing 3rd overall and first for our team.   John
medaled at the Springfield Invitational in the Varsity race by placing 17th.  He made his way into our team's top ten fastest sophomore ever list at the Charleston Invitational, the Springfield Invitational, the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational, the East Peoria Inviational, and the Olympia Invitational.  John worked his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leader list in September & October.  John ran a 16:39 at the East Peoria Invitational.  John earned a medal at the Olympia Invitational by placing 2nd.  He ran a personal best 3 mile time at the U-High Invitational.  He went on to run a season best and medal at the Metamora Invitational by placing 33rd with a time of 16:30.  John earned a medal at the Regional meet by placing 5th with a lifetime PR of 16:15.  John ran a season best at Sectional with a time of 15:53, making him the 5th runner in 8 years to break the 16 barrier.
