Mayand Vakil - Junior
Mayand is a first
year high school cross country runner. Son of Praful
and Pradnya Vakil.

As a junior, Mayand joins us from the swim team. His
training as a swimmer will bring in the lungs and endurance needed
to help him be a successful runner. Mayand came into the season
with summer training under his belt. His early practices he has
surprised many with already being able to run good times with no previous
XC experience. With added race experience throughout the season,
Mayand will continue to impress us with his determination. Mayand
ran well in his season opener with a time of 24:36. Mayand continues
to set a high standard for the team as far as breaking barriers. During
his second race at the Charleston Invitational, Mayand improved by
over two and a half minutes to run a 22:00. He improved more than
anyone else on the team. Mayand ran another personal best at the
Peoria Notre Dame Invitational by running a time of 21:53. Mayand
earned a medal at the Olympia Invitational by placing 20th with a personal
best time of 21:31. Mayand ran a personal best at the U-High Invitational
with a time of 20:53. He went on to earn a spot on our top 10 fastest
Junior list for the Metamora Invitational with a time of 20:47. |
