Elijah Johnson - Senior

Elijah is a forth year high school cross country runner. Elijah is a returning letterman.  Son of Lieb and Stacie Johnson.
As a freshman, Elijah brings many years of running experience from junior high cross country and track.  After running over 300 miles this summer, he has stepped up in the top 7 of our team.  He has the ability to be in the top 15 of the area by the end of the season if he continues to improve.  In Elijah's first high school race he was able to place in the top 10 of the meet and 2nd for our team.  Elijah earned a medal in the Charleston Invitational Varsity race by placing 13th.  He placed 2nd overall in the Pontiac quad meet.  Elijah medaled at the Springfield Invitational in the freshman race by placing 2nd.  He made his way into our team's top ten fastest freshman ever list at the Charleston Invitational, the Springfield Invitational, the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational,  and the East Peoria Invitational.  Elijah worked his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leader list in September & October.  Elijah ran a 16:47 at the Prairie Central Meet.  Elijah got injured mid-season and was out for the remander of the year.  Elijah was a first year letter winner as a freshman.
     As a Sophomore, Elijah ran over 500 miles in the summer.  He earned the honor of being captain of his team during his sophomore year.  He earned his way onto our team's top 10 sophomore list at our 1st home meet, the Charleston Invitational, the Springfield Invitational, the Eureka Fresh/Soph Invitational, the Peoria ND invitational, the East Peoria Invitational, the U-High Invitational, and the Metamora Invitational.  He earned a medal at the Charleston Invitational by placing 18th with a time of 17:23.  He earned a medal at the Eureka Fresh/Soph Invitational by placing 7th.  
He earned his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September and October.
   As a junior, Elijah ran over 450 miles in the summer.  The News Gazette selected Elijah as one of the nifty fifty in their preseason polls.  He made his way onto our team's top ten fastest junior list at our 1st home meet, the Charleston Invitational, the Springfield Invitational, the Peoria ND Invitational, the East Peoria Invitational, the U-High Invitational, and the Metamora Invitational.  Elijah earned a medal at the Charleston Invitational by placing 11th.  Elijah went on to run a personal best at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational where he ran 2nd for our team.  Elijah had a great race at the U-High Invitational where he ran a lifetime best of 16:08.  Elijah ran another solid race at the Metamora Inviational where he was our 4th fastest junior ever at this meet and earning a medal for placing 35th.  Elijah won our team's sportsmanship award.  Eliajh also was the 2010 Brent Johnson True Grit award winner.  He earned his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September, October, & November.  Elijah earned 2010 News Gazette All Area honors.
   As a senior, Elijah ran over 600 miles in the summer earning him the honor of being a captain.  Elijah opened his senior year by helping his team win the Springfield Invitational for the first time in school history.  Despite being sick, Elijah ran in the 16's.  Elijah earned a letter for the forth year in a row.  Elijah dropped 47 seconds at the Peoria ND Invitational to run an impressive 16:11.  His 5th place finish for the team helped the team place the highest in the history of our school at this high caliber meet.  Elijah helped our team win the East Peoria where he ran a personal best of 16:05.  He earned himself a spot on the fastest senior list for his great time.  Elijah
made his way onto the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders in September.  Elijah broke into the 15s for the first time at the U-High invitational with a time of 15:56.  He earned his way onto our fastest times list for the U-High invitational.  Elijah went on to earn his way onto our fastest times list at the Metamora invitational with a time of 16:15.  He earned a medal at the Metamora Invitational by placing 23rd.  He worked his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list for October.  Elijah ran a sub 5 minute mile to become a member of the Old dog club in 2011.  Elijah helped his team place 2nd in the Sectional meet.  Elijah and his team became the first state qualifying team in our school's history as a AA team.  He worked his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list for November.  Elijah finished his senior season by placing 134th in state to help his team to a 5th place finish.  He was voted by his teammates and coaches for the sportsmanship award.
