Cale McCormick - Senior

Cale is a first year high school cross country runner.  Son of  Flynn and Carleen McCormick.
As a senior, Cale joined the team for the first time.  He came to us with running experience from track where he was an all-state runner in the 3200 meter relay in track as a junior.  He ran over 400 miles in the summer.  He opened up his senior year by earning a medal at the Charleston Invitational where he helped our team win the meet title.  He earned a spot on our top 10 fastest senior list at the Charleston invitational.  During practice, he earned a spot on our sub 30 list for the South Mahomet 5 mile loop run.  In his second race he helped his team win the team title at the Springfield Invitational by running a lifetime best of 16:35.  He earned a medal and earned a spot on our top 10 fastest senior list at the Springfield Invitational.  Cale earned high enough grades during last year to earn an academic letter at the beginning of his this year.  This earned him our team's scholar/athlete award.  Cale ran an impressive run at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational with a time of 16:23.  This placed him in our top times list at the PND invitational.  Cale ran a personal best at the East Peoria Invitational with a 16:09.  This placed him in our top times list at the East Peoria Invitational.  He earned the honor of being on the News-Gazette Prep cross country leaders list in September.  Cale ran a low 16's at the U-High invitational earning him a spot on our top seniors times list at this meet.  He went on to run a 16:15 at the Metamora invitational where he also earned his way onto our fastest senior times list at that meet.  He worked his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list for October.  Cale  ran a sub 5 minute mile to become a member of the Old dog club in 2011.  Cale ran 5th for his team at the Conference meet just missing all-conference status by a mere 3 seconds by placing 11th.  Cale ran a very impressive 16:01.  Cale went on to place 5th for the team at the Regional meet helping our team win the Regional title.  Cale placed a very high 9th in regional.  Cale won our team's fastest new runner award for the 2011 season.  Cale ran 5th for his team at the Sectional meet.  He helped push his team to placing 2nd which is the highest our team has placed in AA history of our school.  Placing 2nd qualified our team for the State meet.  Cale earned the honor of being a state qualifier his first year in cross country.   He worked his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list for November.  Cale ended his high school career by placing 89th place at the state meet and helping his team to a 5th place team finish.  He ran the 23rd fastest time ever by a MS runner at the State meet in the history of our school.
