Brian Plotner - Senior Brian is a
third year
high school cross country runner and letterman. Son of
Linda Plotner

As
a sophomore,
Brian joined us with a great summer of running under his belt. He
ran
most of the summer with the team and race several road races. His
summer
experience helped him shave off many minutes from his time before even
starting
the official season. He earned his way onto
the
News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September and October.
He also earned his way onto our fastest sophomore list at the Metamora
Invitational.
He ran a personal best during his last race at conference with a time
of
22:40. He improved 2:42 from his first meet of the season to his
last. As a junior, Brian came in with more experience and strength. Brian ran 230 days in a row in the preseason to get in shape. Brian is the 3rd highest on our most consecutive days in a row list for our team. He opened up at Charleston with a time of 22:35. Brian represented out team in the Varsity race at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational where he just missed his season best with a time of 22:42. Brian had a tremendous improvement at the East Peoria Invitational where he ran a time of 21:26. Brian had a big 3 mile personal best at U-High with a time of 21:24. This big improvement earned him #20 on our most improved over a career list with a 3:58 career improvement. He earned his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in November. As a senior, Brian came into the season with having gained the experience of racing a half-marathon in the late spring. He opened up the season running some very intense practices and setting the tone for the year. Despite having a hurt knee in the first meet, Brian set a strong example by finishing the race. While it wasn't a record time, it showed a lot of courage and determination. Brian cut off 49 seconds by his second race despite it being run on a very challenging course. He ran a 23:10 and was part of the meet championship team. Brian made a great improvement at the Peoria Notre Dame inviational where he improved by over a minute with a 22:04. Brian continued to improve at the U-High invitational where he ran a season best of 21:57. Brian cracked off another chunk of time to run a 21:31 at the Metamora invitational. Brian ended his career with a big personal best. He ran a 20:47 through 30 mph winds. He ended his career as #19 in our team's all time most improved over a career list with a 4:35 improvement. His constant improvement over his career shows just how tough his determination is. Brian earned his varsity letter his senior year. |
