Lucas Prather - Senior

Lucas is a forth year high school cross country runner and returning letterman. Son of Daren and Sandra Prather.
   As a freshman, Lucas comes in with many years of cross country and track experience.  After running over 300 miles this summer, he has stepped up in the top 10 of our team.  He started the season running workouts with great intensity and work ethic.  He has the ability to end the season in the top 20 in the area.  Lucas opened his season with a time of 19:03.  In his next meet with less than 25 minutes warm up he cut off nearly a minute to run a 18:10 during the Varsity race at the Charleston Invitational where he ran 6th for the team.  He ran 5th for the team and broke into the 17s at the Pontiac quad.  Lucas medaled at the Springfield Invitational in the freshman race by placing 6th.  He made his way into our team's top ten fastest freshman ever list at the Charleston Invitational, the Springfield Invitational, the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational, the East Peoria Invitational, Olympia Invitational, U-High Invitational, and Metamora Invitational.  Lucas worked his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leader list in September and October.  Lucas ran a 17:00 at the Prairie Central meet.  Lucas earned a medal at the Olympia FS Invitational by placing 4th.  Lucas ran a personal best 3 mile time at the U-High Invitational where he placed 3rd for the team.  He became our fastest freshman ever at the U-High Invitational.  He went on the run 4th for the team at the Metamora Inviational.  Lucas ran a 3 mile PR at conference with a 16:52 on a long course.  Lucas placed 4th for the team at Regional with a lifetime PR of 16:49.  Lucas ran 3rd for the team at Sectional with a season best of 16:42.
    As a sophomore, Lucas ran over 400 miles in the summer.  Lucas earned the honor of being a captain of his team for his sophomore year.  Lucas earned a spot on our top 10 fastest sophomore lists for the 1st home meet, the Charleston Invitational, the Springfield Invitational, the Eureka Fresh/Soph Invitational, the Peoria ND Invitational, the East Peoria Invitational, the U-High Invitational, and the Metamora Invitational.  He earned a medal at the Charleston Invitational by placing 7th with a time of 16:37.  
He earned his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September and October.   He earned a medal at the Euerka Fresh/Soph Invitational by placing 2nd.  He earned a medal at the Peoria ND Invitational by placing 17th.  He earned a medal at the U-High Invitational by placing 10th.  He earned a medal at the Metamora Invitational by placing 34th.  Lucas earned all-conference status by placing 9th.  Lucas placed 20th in Sectional, just missing qualifying for State by 2 places and 5 seconds.  Lucas finished the season by earning the most valuable runner award, the Brent Johnson true grit award, Fastest Sophomore runner, and the most improved fresh/soph runner award,   He also ended the season by being recognized as one of the News-Gazette's all area runners.
 
  As a junior, Lucas ran over 500 miles in the summer.  He earned the honor of being captain for his junior year.  The News Gazette selected Lucas as one of the nifty fifty in their preseason polls.  He made his way onto our team's top ten fastest junior list at our 1st home meet, the Charleston Invitational, the Springfield Invitational, the Peoria Notre Dame, the East Peoria Inviational, the U-High Invitational.  Lucas opened up his junior year by running a personal best of 16:02 and earning a 7th place medal at the Charleston Invitational.  Lucas' time was the fastest time recorded for a Mahomet-Seymour runner at the Charleston Invitational.  Lucas made his way onto our team's most improved over a career list by improving more than 3 minutes from his first high school 3 mile race to his overall fastest high school 3 mile race. He earned a medal at the Springfield invitational by placing 6th.  Lucas broke into the 15's at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational Invitational with a time of 15:55.  Lucas earned a medal at the East Peoria Invitational where he placed 9th with a time of 15:52.  This was the 2nd fastest time our team has ever had at this invitational.  Lucas ran the fastest time we have ever had at the U-High inviational with a time of 15:34.  He earned a medal by placing 6th.  Lucas ran another solid race at the Metamora Invitational where he earned a medal by placing 12th.  He went on to earn all-conference honors by placing 7th.  Lucas placed in the top 10 at the Regional meet with a lifetime personal best of 15:27. Lucas ran very competitively at the Sectional meet placing 13th.  Lucas ran well enough to be a State qualifier.  Lucas placed 106th at State.  His time of 16:10 placed him 3rd in our fastest junior list ever at the State meet.  Lucas became 8th on our most consecutive days in a row with 115 days.  Lucas won our team's fastest junior award, most valuable runner, and bulldog award winner award.  He earned his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September, October, and November.  Lucas earned News Gazette All-Area honors in 2010.
   As a senior, Lucas ran over 600 miles in the summer.  He earned the honor of being captain for the third year in a row.  The News Gazette picked him as one of the pre-season nifty fifty runners for the area.  Lucas opened the season by earning a medal at the Charleston Invitational by placing 9th.  He earned a spot on the top 10 fastest senior list for the Charleston Invitational.  Lucas made a major jump in his second race out.  He ran in the 15's on a very challenging Springfield course with a time of 15:53.  This was the fastest senior time ever at this meet which earned him a spot on the fastest top 10 senior list for the Springfield invitational.  Lucas earned high enough grades last year to earn an academic letter this year.  This helped him earn our team's scholar/athlete award.  Lucas earned his forth year letter in cross country as a senior.  Lucas ran a lifetime best of 15:21 at the Peoria Notre Dame invitational where he led our team to a 14th place finish.  He was the fastest we have ever had at that meet.  He also earned the number one fastest senior time at the East Peoria Invitational where he ran a 15:24 to earn a medal.  Lucas
made his way onto the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders in September.  Lucas ran another great time at the U-High invitational earning himself a medal and the fastest Mahomet time ever for a senior at that invite.  Lucas went on to medal at the Metamora invitational by placing 10th with a 15:36.  He worked his way onto the News-Gazette prep cross country leader list for October.  Lucas ran a sub 5 minute mile to become a member of the Old dog club in 2011.  Lucas earned all-conference status by placing 7th.  Earning all-conference status for 3 years in a row is very impressive in our tough conference.  Lucas led our team at the Regional meet to a team championship.  He earned all-regional status and a medal by placing 4th.  Lucas placed 12th at the Sectional meet helping his team qualify for State for the first time in the history of our school being a AA school.  Lucas earned the honor of being a state qualifier for the second year in a row.  Lucas finished his high school cross country career by finishing 49th at State and helping his team place 5th as a team.  Lucas ran the 7th fastest senior time ever at state for the history of our school.  Lucas also was the 10th fastest time ever in all grades at State for Mahomet-Seymour high school.  He also ended his career by earning the Bulldog award and Most Valuable Runner award.
