Bobby Butler - Senior

Bobby is a forth year high school cross country runner and returning letterman.  Son of John and Julie Butler.
As a freshman, Bobby brings many years of running experience under his belt.   Bobby earned a medal at the Charleston Invitation open race by placing 10th with a time of 19:37.  He made his way into our team's top ten fastest freshman ever list at our 1st home meet, the Charleston Invitational, the Eureka Fresh/Soph Invitational, and the Metamora Invitational. He earned his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September, October, and November.   He earned a medal at the Springfield 2 mile race by placing 10th.  Bobby earned his way onto our top 12 varsity regional team roster.
As a sophomore, Bobby opened his season at the Charleston Invitational with a time of 20:13.  Bobby made it onto our scholar/athlete list in 2010.  He earned his way onto our top times list at the Springfield invitational by placing 42nd in the open race.  He was our fastest  open runner at the Springfield invitational.  Bobby went on to run a season best at the Eureka FS Invitational.  He was part of the Eureka FS meet champion team.  Bobby ran a season best at the East Peoria Invitational with a time of 19:23.  Bobby had a strong race at the U-High Invitational where he ran a 3 mile season best time with a 19:58.  Bobby was our only runner on our team to run a personal best at the Metamora Invitational since the hot conditions slowed the field down by over 30 seconds.  Bobby ran a 19:08 which placed him in the top ten fastest sophomore list at this invitational.  Bobby earned enough points by the Metamora Invitational to earn a varsity letter.
He earned his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in November.
As a junior, Bobby ran over 600 miles in the summer earning himself the honor of being captain.  He opened the season by being the invididual meet champion at the Charleston Invitational open race.  Bobby ran a personal best in the first meet of the season with a time of 18:51.  This was especially impressive as he was only one of two runners for our team to open the season with a lifetime personal best due to the excessive heat.
Bobby earned high enough grades during last year to earn an academic letter at the beginning of his this year.  This earned him our team's scholar/athlete award.  Bobby ran his second race at the Peoria Notre Dame invitational where he ran a lifetime best by 55 seconds with a time of 17:54.  Bobby earned his varsity letter for the 3rd year in a row.  Bobby improved 1:40 from the pervious year at this year's East Peoria Invite where he ran a lifetime best of 17:43.  Bobby made his way onto the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders in September.  Bobby ran a lifetime 3 mile best at the U-High invitational.  He placed 8th which earned him a spot in the highest  places at the U-High invite.  Bobby earned his way onto the Metamora fastest top 10 times list for sophomores by running a 18:00.  He worked his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list for October.  Bobby improved an impressive 2:09 from his last year's best time.   He worked his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list for November.  Bobby was selected by his team and coaches for the Brent Johnson True Grit Award.
