Chris Carlton - Junior

Chris is a third year high school cross country runner. and returning letterman.   Son of Brian and Michaela Carlton.
    As a freshman, Chris comes to our team with jr. high cross country experience under his belt.  Chris ran at the State meet as an 8th grade runner.  He earned his way onto our team's 10 fastest freshman lists for the Charleston Invitational, the Springfield Invitational, the Eureka FS Invitational, the East Peoria Invitational, the U-High Invitational, and the Metamora Invitational.  In his first high school race, he earned a medal at the Charleston Invitational by placing 2nd with a time of 18:05.  He was our 8th fastest runner at the Charleston Invitational.  He earned his way onto our highest open finishes at the Charleston Invitational by placing 2nd.  Chris earned a medal at the Springfield Invitational by placing 6th in the freshman race.  He was a member of the freshman meet championship team at the Springfield Invitational freshmen race.  He earned a medal at the Eureka FS Invitational by placing 11th and running another season personal best.  He was part of the Eureka FS Invitational meet champion team.  Chris went on to run a 3 mile personal best at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He continued to run season best at the East Peoria Invitational where he ran a 17:40.  Chris placed 18th at the U-High Invitational earning him a spot on our top 10 highest open places.  Chris ran a solid time at Metamora and earned his way onto our top ten fastest freshman times at this meet.  Chris made it onto our Regional roster his freshman year.  He earned his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September, October, & November.
    As a sophomore, Christ ran 400 miles in the summer.  Chris opened the season by placing in the top 7 for our team and helping his team win the Charleston Invitational.  He really stepped it up as a sophomore stepping into the top 7 spot in early practices and in our first invitational.  He earned his letter for the second year in a row in cross country.  At Chris' second meet, he ran a lifetime personal best on a very challenging Springfield course.  He and his teammate led his team to winning the Open race as a team for the first time in the history of our program.  Chris earned a medal by placing 4th which is the 2nd highest finish our team has ever had at the Springfield Invitational.  Chris led his fresh/soph team at the Peoria Notre Dame invitational.  He broke into the 16s for the first time with an impressive 16:43 which was a 49 second improvement from his previous lifetime best.  Chris ran another lifetime personal best at the East Peoria Invitational with a second time in the 16s.
Chris made his way onto the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders in September.  Chris earned his way onto the top ten fastest sophomore list for the U-High invitational with a time of 17:23.  He went on to earn his way onto the top times list for the Metamora list by running 17:09.  He worked his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list for October.  Chris placed 4th in the open race at our Conference meet with our team's 7th fastest time for the day.  His 16:53 earned him a spot on our regional team.  Chris ran the Regional race and helped his team win the Regional title.  He worked his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list for November.
