Jack Hyde - Freshman

Jack is a first year high school cross country runner and letterman.  Son of Rich and Traci Hyde.
As a freshman, Jack joined us after being part of the 8th grade XC team that placed 4th in State.  He ran three years of cross country in junior high.  Jack dedicated himself this summer to get in great shape when he ran over 300 miles.  He joined our team's 300 mile club.  He showed great intensity in practice as he always tried to run with the top group despite being the youngest.  Jack opened up his high school career by earning a medal in the Charleston Invitational by placing 3rd in the open race.  His high place also helped his team earn a perfect score in the open race.  He ran a great time of 17:25 which was fast enough to earn him a spot on our team's fastest top 15 freshman times list for the Charleston Invitational.  Jack made his way onto the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders in September.  Jack went on to earn a medal at the Springfield Invitational by placing 7th.  His time was 7th fastest freshman time we have ever had and it earned him a spot on our fastest times list for Springfield.  He earned enough letter points after his 2nd race to earn a varsity letter. Jack ran one of the fastest times ever by a MS freshman at the Peoria Notre Dame invitational.  He ran a 16:55 to earn a spot on our team's 16's list.  He also earned a spot on our team's fastest PND times list by being the 5th fastest freshman we have had at this meet.  He led his fresh/soph team to have one of the highest finishes we have had at this invite.  Jack ran another great time at the East Peoria Invitational with a 17:02.  This was the 8th fastest time we have ever had on this course by a freshman.  Jack ran a 17:36 on our home course at our 1 team Mahomet-Seymour Invitational.  This was the 9th fastest time that a freshman has run on our home course.  Jack made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October.  Jack ran another great time at the Metamora Invitational with a 17:06.  His time was the 6th fastest time we have ever had a freshman run on this course.  Jack ran a 17:15 on a wet course at the Conference meet.  He placed a very high 6th in the open race.
