Joey Magyar - Freshman

Joey is a first year high school cross country runner and letterman.  Son of Tim and Laura Magyar.
As a freshman, Joey joined us with great experience at the junior high level.  Joey ran XC for all three years in the junior high.  He was part of the team that placed 4th in state in 8th grade.  Joey has a great amount of talent and it shows.  He ran very well in his first race at the Charleston Invitational.  He placed 10th in the open race and helped them win the 12 team invite.  He earned his first high school medal and made it onto our team's 15 fastest freshman times list for the Charleston Invite.  He also earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September.  Joey ran an excellent race at the Springfield Invitational.  He ran a 11:33 to place him 11th to earn a medal.  He helped his team win the freshman team championship at the Springfield Invitational.  He ran fast enough to earn a spot on the fastest freshman time list for the Springfield Invite.  He earned enough letter points after his 2nd race to earn his first varsity letter.  Joey ran a lifetime best at 18:01 at the East Peoria Invitational.  He earned a spot on our team's fastest freshman times list at the East Peoria Invitational.  Joey went on to run an 18:29 on our challenging home course in our 1 team Mahomet-Seymour Invitational.  He ran the 16th fastest freshman time any MS runner has run on our home course. Joey ran a lifetime best at the Metamora Invitational where he broke into the 17s for the first time in his life.  He ran a 17:30 which was the 11th fastest time we have had for a freshman at this invitational.  He earned a spot on the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List for October.  Joey placed 20th in the Conference open race to end a great season.
