2012 News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September

2013 News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September
As a sophomore, we were fortunate enough to get Christopher to join our team.  Christopher ran junior high cross country for three years and brought that experience with him.  His experience shows as he was able to handle the jump to racing 3 miles and the toughest workouts that we offer.  In his first high school race, Christopher finished within 4 seconds of his older brother John. Christopher made his way onto the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders in September.  Christopher went on to run a lifetime best at the Springfield Invitational with a time of 23:42.  Christopher helped his team win the open race for the 2nd year in a row.  Christopher had the biggest improvement of the day for our team at the East Peoria Invitational.  He had a lifetime personal best of 21:20.  This was a 2 minute and 22 second improvement which was our biggest improvement between races of the season for any of our runners.  Christopher ran his 2nd fastest time at the Metamora Invitational.  He ran a great time of 22:17.  Christopher won our team's clydesdale award for the 2012 season.  He had the fastest time for any runner that met the criteria.  This is a respected award given at most road races and also on our team each year.
As a junior, Christopher joins us with around 150 miles in the summer.  He has quickly became a team leader.   The runners around his pace latch unto Christopher in practices.  Christopher is a smooth runner and holds an even pace.  The other runners draw strength off of hanging around him in workouts.  Christopher opened up his junior year with a 26:54 at the Charleston Invitational.  Christopher earned his way onto the News-Gazette's prep cross country leaders list in September.  Christopher ran a lifetime best at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational with a time of 22:55.  This was a 3 minute and 59 second improvement from his previous season best.  This was one of the biggest improvements I have ever seen in just a two week time.  Christopher went on to run a season best at the East Peoria Invitational with a 22:33.  He helped his teammate also run his season best with a group effort.  Christopher continues to help lead the guys around him.  Christopher had an amazing race at the Metamora Invitational where he ran in the 20s for the first time.  He ran a 20:54.
