2013 News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September and October
As a Senior, Collin joined us for the first time.  He showed an amazing amount of will power as he quickly improved.  By week two of our practices Collin looked like he had a couple years experience rather than a couple weeks.  I know much of this is due to his determination.  Collin opened up with a good time at the Charleston Invitational.  He ran a very respectable time of 20:12.  Collin earned our team's scholar/athlete award by earning high grades and being an athlete on our team.  Collin earned his way onto the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders list in September.  Collin ran another great race at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  Before the race he had a horrible limp from an injury he couldn't seem to get rid of.  He showed guts in running anyway.  He managed to run just two seconds off his personal best time with a 20:14.  He is one tough runner.  Collin ran a lifetime best in his next race at the East Peoria Invitational.  He ran a time of 20:11.  Collin was one of our few runners that ran a personal best on this tough course. Collin earned his way onto the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders list in October.  Collin had an amazing run at the Metamora Invitational where he broke into the 19s.  He ran a 19:13 for a season best time.  Collin showed great guts all year by running through an injury.  Through his determination he was able to earn his 20th varsity letter point at our final meet to earn his varsity letter.  He ran a solid time of 20:23 on a slow course.  Collin earned the Fastest New Runner Award Winner for the 2013 season.
