As a freshman, Jake joins us from the jr high XC team that placed 4th in state.  Jake also was an all-state runner in the 800 and 1600 in track in 8th grade.  Jake has quickly gotten used to the high school workouts and had a strong first race.  Jake opened up his high school career by running a 17:40 at the Charleston Invitational.  Jake earned a medal by placing 4th which helped his team earn a perfect score in the open race.  Jake ran fast enough to earn a spot on the fastest 15 top Freshman Times List for the Charleston Invitational.  He earned a spot on the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders list in September.  Jake went on to help his team win the Springfield Invitational Freshman race.  He won a medal by placing 4th with a time of 11:04.  This is the 3rd fastest time we have ever had for a MS runner at this meet.  He earned a spot on our fastest freshman time list for the Springfield Invitational.  He earned enough letter points after his second meet to earn a varsity letter.  Jake ran a 33 second lifetime personal best at the Peoria Notre Dame Invite.  His time of 17:07 earned him a spot on our fastest freshman all time list at this invitational.  His strength showed as he almost broke into the 16's.  Jake earned a spot on our team's sub 30 south Mahomet loop run list by breaking 30 minutes in a 5 mile trial.  Jake ran in the 16's for the first time at the East Peoria Invitational with a 16:54.  Jake ran the 5th fastest time any freshman from MS that has ever run on that course.  Jake went on to run a 17:19 on our home course in our 1 team Mahomet-Seymour Invitational.  He placed 7th for our team.  He ran the 5th fastest time any MS freshman has ever run on our home course. Jake made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October.  Jake had another time in the 16s at the Metamora Invitational proving himself to be one of the strongest runners in the area.  He ran a 16:59 to earn a spot on our team's fastest freshmen times at the Metamora Invitational with the 5th fastest MS freshman time ever.  Jake ran a strong race at Conference on a slow course.  He ran a 17:07 to tie his lifetime best 3 mile.  He placed 5th in the open race and 9th on our team for the day.  Jake earned a spot on our IHSA state series team.  He went on in practice to break 5 minutes in the mile to earn a spot on our team's old dog club.
As a sophomore, Jake came out strong.  He physically is stronger and has more confidence.  He ran extremely well in our early season time trials and I credit his determination for his success.  Jake opened up his season with a strong  run at the Charleston Invitational.  He placed 38th which was high enough to earn him his first medal of the season.  His fast time of 17:44 was fast enough to earn him a spot on our team's fastest 15 top sophomore times list for the Charleston Invitational.  Jake had a very tough performance at the Springfield Invitational.  He won in a big way.  He was our first open race meet champion that our team has had at this invitational.  He not only earned the championship medal, but he led our team to the open race championship team trophy.  His time was fast enough to put him in our top 7 varsity for the day.  His time is the 9th fastest sophomore time we have had at this invitational.  The News-Gazette put him on their prep cross country leaders list in September. He
earned his second varsity cross country letter early in the season.  Jake ran a lifetime best at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He ran a 16:56.  His time earned him the 14th fastest Mahomet sophomore time ever at this invite.  He helped lead his team to the highest place we have ever had for our fresh/soph team at this invitational.  Jake went on to run a good race at the East Peoria.  He ran a 17:13 which earned him the 15th fastest Mahomet sophomore time ever at this invite.  Jake made his way onto the News-Gazette's prep cross country leaders list in October.  Jake  earned his way onto the News-Gazette's prep cross country leaders list in November.  Jake earned our team's clydesdale award for the 2013 season.
