   As a freshman, Ethan comes to our team with jr. high cross country experience under his belt.  Ethan ran over 300 miles in the summer before his freshman year.  He earned his way onto our team's 10 fastest freshman lists for the 1st home meet, the Charleston Invitational, the Springfield Inviational, the Eureka FS Invitational, the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational, the East Peoria Invitational, the U-High Invitational, and Metamora Invitational.  He earned a medal at the Charleston Invitational by placing 25th with a time of 17:26.  He earned a medal at the Springfield invitational by placing 4th in the freshman 2 mile race.  He was a member of the freshman meet championship team at the Springfield Invitational freshmen race.  Ethan earned a medal at the Eureka F/S Inviational where he was also part of the Eureka Fresh/Soph Invitational meet championship team.  Ethan ran a personal best at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational where he ran a 17:04 while running in the Varsity race.  Ethan continued to run well where he ran a personal best at the East Peoria Invitational.  Ethan broke into the 16's for the first time at the U-High Invitational with a time of 16:44.  Ethan ran the 2nd fastest freshman time ever at the Metamora invitational with another time in the 16's.  Ethan ended the season well as he became one of the few freshman to run in the Regional and Sectional meet.  Ethan ran in our top seven Varsity runners the entire year.  He earned his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September, October, and November.
   As a sophomore, Ethan came into the season in better shape than ever.  He ran over 500 miles in the summer.  He opened up at the Springfield Invitational by helping his team win the meet championship for the first time in the history of our school.  Ethan earned a medal by placing 23rd and running a lifetime best of 16:41.  He earned high enough grades last year to earn an academic letter.  This helped him earn the honor of scholar/athlete for our team.  He earned a second year letter in cross country as a sophomore.   Ethan ran a lifetime best at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational with a 16:27.  He earned his way onto the top times list for the Peoria Notre Dame invitational.  He ran another personal best at the East Peoria Invitational with a 16:11.  He earned his way onto our top times list for the East Peoria Invitational with this time.  
Ethan made his way onto the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders in September.  Ethan ran a low 16's at the U-High invitational to earn him a spot on our fastest times list.  He went on to run another solid race at the tough Metamora course to earn him a high spot on the Metamora invitational.  He worked his way onto the News Gazette prep cross country leaders list for October.  Ethan ran a sub 5 minute mile to become a member of the Old dog club in 2011.  Ethan went on to run a lifetime personal best at the Regional meet with a 16:12.  He was 12th in the Regional race helping his team win the Regional title.  Ethan helped his team place 2nd at the Sectional meet.  Ethan earned the honor of being a state qualifier his sophomore year.  He worked his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list for November.  Ethan ended his sophomore season by placing 142nd at State and helping his team place 5th as a team.  He ran the 11th fastest sophomore time at State that MS has ever had.
    As a junior, Ethan came out strong.  He ran over 800 miles in the 67 days in the summer to make our 800 mile club.  He ran over 1000 miles in June to August 31 to join our team's 1000 York Mile Club.  He earned the title of captain for his junior year. Ethan opened up his senior year by earning a medal at the Charleston Invitational.  He helped his team win the team title as he ran a 16:00.  He earned IL elite status for his Charleston race time.  This was high enough to earn him a spot on our team's fastest junior list ever and the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list in September.  Ethan earned a spot on our old dog sub 5 minute mile club again as a junior.  He also broke into our team's sub 30 South Mahomet Loop club again.  He went on to have a lifetime personal best at the Springfield Invitational with a time of 15:50.  He earned a medal and helped his team place 2nd.  He earned a spot on our fastest junior times list for the Springfield Invitational.  He earned IL elite status for his Springfield race.  He earned a spot on our team's scholar/athlete list due to his excellent grades.  Ethan broke into the top 100 at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational with one of the top 10 highest finishes we have had at this invite.  He ran the 5th fastest time we have had at this meet with a 15:37.  He earned a spot on our team's fastest junior times list.  He helped his team place higher than any MS team ever had at this invite.  Ethan earned IL elite status for his great time in this race.  Ethan ran 3rd for the team again at the East Peoria Invitational and helped his team win the invite for the 2nd year in a row.  Ethan ran in the 15's which was the 3rd fastest junior time we have had at this invitational.  He earned Il elite status by dyestat again at this meet.  He earned a medal by placing 7th in the invitational.  Ethan went on to run our 2nd fastest junior time on our home course at the 1 team Mahomet-Seymour Invitational with a 15:54.  Ethan made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October.  Ethan ran a lifetime personal best at the Metamora Invitational with a 15:25.  This was the 2nd fastest junior MS time we have ever had and the 3rd fastest time for any MS runner at this invitational.  He earned a medal by placing 11th.  This helped his team win the team championship.  Ethan ran another strong race at Conference.  He ran a 15:48 to place 9th.  He earned all-conference status and a medal.  He also earned elite status by dyestat for this performance.  Ethan went on to earn all-regional status by placing in the top 5.  He earned a medal for placing 5th.  He helped his team win the Regional meet for the 2nd year in a row.  Ethan's Regional effort earned him IL elite status by dyestat.com.  Ethan had a strong race at the Sectional meet where he placed 11th.  He ran a time of 15:51 on a slow and wet course.  He helped his team win the Sectional meet for the first time since 1979.  He became a State Qualifier for the second year in a row.  He earned elite IL status with his performance at the Sectional meet.  Ethan ran his second fastest 3 mile time at the State meet to place 86th.  This was a 56 place improvement from last year.  He ran a 15:43.  He really was a major vocal leader on his team all season.  He ran the 5th fastest time at the State meet for a MS junior in our program's history.  He earned elite IL status at the State meet from dyestat.com.
    As a senior, Ethan had another strong summer.  He ran over 700 miles to earn a spot on our 700 mile club.  He also earned the title of being a captain.  Ethan is often seen taking the younger runners under his wing and giving them solid advice.  Ethan looks physically stronger than ever heading into his final high school season.  He enters his senior year with the 37th fastest returning time in the State.  Ethan opened up his senior year by running a 16:29.  His time was fast enough to earn him the 5th spot on our fastest top 15 senior times list for the Charleston Invite.  He placed 10th in the invite and earned his first medal for the year.  He helped his team run the fastest top 7 team average time of any Mahomet team we have had run at the Charleston Invite.  Ethan had a big improvement at the Springfield Invitational where he ran a 16:02.  His time was fast enough to earn him the 8th place medal.  He helped lead his team to the team championship over #2 State ranked Springfield.  Ethan's time was the 3rd fastest senior time we have had at this invitational.  He earned his 4th varsity cross country letter early in the season.  Ethan earned one of the top spots on the News-Gazette's prep cross country leaders list in September.  Ethan ran well at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He ran a solid time of 16:03 despite being a little banged up.  His time helped push his team to the highest overall team finish any Mahomet team has ever had at this invite.  His time also helped his team earn the fastest top 7 average of any team at this invite.  Ethan's time earned the 6th fastest senior time for any Mahomet runner at this invite.  Ethan ran a 16:17 at the East Peoria Invitational.  This earned him the 9th fastest senior time for this meet for a Mahomet runner.  Ethan helped his team win the team championship for the 3rd year in a row.  Ethan earned a medal at the East Peoria Invitational by placing 18th.  Ethan made his way onto the News-Gazette's prep cross country leaders list in October.  Ethan ran very well at the Metamora Invitational.  He ran 4th for his team with a season personal best of 15:38.  His time was fast enough to earn him the 4th fastest senior time for this invitational.  He also helped his team run the fastest top 5 and top 7 team average for a Mahomet team at this invitational.  Ethan earned a medal by placing 26th which helped his team win the invitational for the 2nd year in a row.  Ethan ran a solid race at Conference.  He placed 15th.  He helped his team win conference for the first time in the 28 year history of our school being in the conference.  Ethan and his team had to beat the #5 ranked team in the State to accomplish this feat.  Ethan helped his team win the Regional meet.  He placed 10th.  He helped his team run the fastest top 7 runner average and lowest team score of any Mahomet team at Regionals in 44 years.  Ethan had a solid run at the Sectional meet.  He helped his team win the Sectional meet.  Ethan became one of only 10 runners in the history of our program to qualify for state for a third time.  Ethan earned a spot on the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders list in November.  Ethan earned Athlete of the Week honors by MahometDaily.com for Nov 7, 2013.  Ethan ran a 16:29 at the State meet.  He placed 5th for his team and 137th overall.  Ethan helped his team place 15th.  Ethan won the sportsmanship award for the 2013 season.
