As a freshman, Dhairav comes to our team with jr. high cross country experience under his belt.  He earned a medal at the Charleston Invitational by placing 5th with a time of 18:59.  He earned his way onto our highest open finishes at the Charleston Invitational by placing 5th.  He was a member of the freshman meet championship team at the Springfield Invitational freshmen race.  Dhairav earned his way onto the 10 fastest freshman times ever at the Eureka FS Invitational.  He won a medal at the Eureka FS Invitational by placing 17th with a personal best of 18:13.  He was part of the Eureka FS Invitational meet championship team.  Dhairav ran a 3 mile personal best at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational with a 18:44.  Dhairav earned enough letter points to earn a Varsity letter.  Dhairav placed 16th in the open race at the U-High Invitational which earned him the #8 spot on our all time list for open places at that invitational.  Dhairav also ran a personal best in the 3 mile at the U-High Invitational with a 16:40.  He earned his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September, October, and November.
As a sophomore, Dhairav ran 500 miles in the summer.  Dhairav came in with such a strong base and stepped right into training with the top 10 runners.  Dhairav had a great start to the season at the Springfield Invitational where he helped pull his team to a meet championship in the open race.  Dhairav ran 4th for his team in that race to help with the team score.  He broke into the 17's for the first time with a 17:58.  He earned a medal by placing 10th which also earned him a spot on our Springfield Invitational top times/places list.  Dhairav earned a letter for the second year in cross country.  He earned high enough grades last year that he earned an academic letter.  This helped him earn the team's honor of scholar/athlete.  Dhairav lowered his lifetime best to a 17:47 at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.
Dhairav made his way onto the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders in September.  Dhairav ran an outstanding run at the U-High invitational where he ran a lifetime best of 17:41.  He placed 6th which is the highest open finish at the U-High invitational for our team.  He worked his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list for October.  Dhairav had a solid time at the Conference meet despite the 30 mph winds.  He ran a 18:10.  His great times over the season earned him a post on our team's state series roster for his sophomore year.  He worked his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list for November.
As a junior, Dhairav really stepped it up in his pre-season training by running 700 miles in 68 days.  He earned a spot on the 700 mile club.  He went on to keep his miles high for the entire June 1st through August 31st.  He ran 1000 miles in those 92 days and was one of our first runners ever to earn a spot on our team's 1000 York Mile Club.  Dhairav earned the title of captain for his junior year.  He improved 4 minutes and 51 seconds from his first meet last year to his first meet this year.  He ran a 17:42 at this year's Charleston Invitational to earn a medal.  He placed 5th and helped his team earn a perfect score in the open race.  Dhairav's time also earned him a spot on our team's fastest top 15 junior list for the Charleston Invitational. Dhairav
made his way onto the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders in September.  Dhairav earned excellent grades again and made our team's scholar/athlete list.  Dhairav ran a very strong first part of the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He was on track for a sub 17 pace.  He needed to pull out of the race after about 2 miles.  He went on to break 30 minutes in our 5 mile trial to earn him a spot for his junior year on our team's sub 30 south Mahomet Loop run.  Dhairav ran a 18:07 on our challenging home course at our 1 team Mahomet-Seymour Invitational.  This was fast enough to earn him a spot on our fastest juniors on our home course since 2000.  Dhairav made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October.  Dhairav showed great team spirit as he brought water out to the team during a hard run when he was unable to run himself.  Dhairav's caring heart and dedication to his teammates really was revealed.  Dhairav won our team's Brent Johnson True Grit award his junior year.
As a senior, Dhairav came in strong with 600 miles in the summer.  He joined our 600 mile club.  Dhairav comes into the season with experience, confidence, and wisdom.  His endurance is high and was definitely seen in the early weeks of practice.  Dhairav is one of the runners that I will admire most in all of the athletes I have ever coached.  Dhairav has an amzing "never give up" attitude that I have hardly ever seen in any runner.  He came back his senior year and completed his first race at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He ran right at his lifetime best of 17:49.  He earned his varsity letter in that meet.  Dhairav had the highest finish of any Mahomet runner ever in the open race.  He ran fast enough to earn him a spot on the News Gazette's Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September.  Dhairav
made his way onto the News-Gazette's prep cross country leaders list in October.  Dhairav ran a solid race on the challenging Metamora Invitational course.  His 18:06 earned him a spot on our team's fastest senior list for the Metamora Invitational.  Dhairav earned enough letter points at this meet in order to earn his 4th varsity letter in cross country.  Dhairav joins a select rank of runners that are four year lettermen in the history of our program.  Dhairav ran a solid race at the conference meet where he helped his team win the open race for the first time in 28 years.  Dhairav never give up attitude will be sorely missed by the team next season.  Dhairav earned his way onto the News-Gazette's prep cross country leader list for November.
