2014 News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September, October & November
   As a Freshman, Callan joins us with two years cross country experience.  He ran both 7th and 8th grade cross country.  Callan was one of the top runners on his team as an 8th grade runner.  His team placed 7th in State when Callan was an 8th grade runner.  Callan did a great job adjusting to the high school distance and faster pace.  Callan opened up his season by breaking 19:00 in his first 3 mile high school race.  Callan ran a 18:59 at the Charleston Invitational which is an amazing time for a 9th grade runner.  Callan made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September.  Callan ran a great race at the Springfield Invitational.  Callan placed 6th in the freshman race and helped his team win the team championship.  Callan earned a medal for his 6th place finish.  His time earned him a spot on our team's fastest top freshman times list for the Springfield Invitational with a time of 11:33.  His 6th place finish was also one of the highest finishes we have ever had in the freshman race.   Callan showed how talented his is as he beat many of the strongest freshman runners from the Southern part of the State.  His impressive time was his lifetime by by 24 seconds.  Callan ran a lifetime best at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He improved 52 seconds to run a 18:07.  His time was fast enough to earn him a spot on our team's fastest top freshman times list for the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  Callan earned enough letter points after the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational to earn his first high school varsity cross country letter.  Callan ran another best time at the East Peoria Invitational where broke into the 17s for the first time.  His time of 17:53 was fast enough to earn him a spot on our fastest top freshman times list for the East Peoria Invitational.  Callan ran a 14 second improvement from his personal previous best time.  Callan made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October.  Callan ran a season best with an improvement of 55 seconds at the Metamora Invitational.  His time of 16:58 was fast enough to earn him the 10th fastest freshman time at this invitational by a Mahomet runner.  He earned a spot on our team's 16 minute three mile club by breaking into the 16s.  It is extremely rare to have a freshman break into the 16s.  Callan revealed himself as one of the strongest runners in the area by racing to this time.  Callan ended his freshman season by running a lifetime 3 mile best with a time of 17:28.  This was a 40 second improvement from his previous 3 mile best.  Callan helped his team win the open race at the Conference meet.  His time was fast enough to earn him a spot on our fastest freshman times list at the Conference meet.  Callan showed himself to be a very strong high school runner.  Callan made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in November.
