2014 News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September and October

   As a sophomore, Kenny joined us with two years of junior high cross country experience.  Kenny is a hard worker in practice and brings a great attitude to the team.  He helps pull his teammates in workouts which has made our team better.  Kenny took the summer running seriously which helped him jump into the program right away doing well.  He had an excellent start to the season and ran a 23:44 at the Charleston Invitational.  Kenny made his way onto the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders in September.  Kenny went on to run a lifetime personal best time of 23:19.  He helped his team win the meet championship for the open race at the Springfield Invitational.  Kenny made our team's scholar/athlete list due to his great grades the previous year.  Kenny ran a major personal best at the East Peoria Invitational.  He ran a 21:56 which was a 1 minute and 23 second improvement.  This was the second biggest personal best for our entire team. 
    As a junior, Kenny came out with more confidence and experience.  His experience really helped him as he showed drastic improvement in just one year's time for the early season workouts.  Kenny ran a great first race at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He ran right at his lifetime personal best time with a time of 22:30.  Kenny ran an incredible race at the East Peoria Invitational.  He improved 1 minute and 45 seconds with a time of 20:45.  He had the biggest improvement of the week with that huge improvement.
    As a senior, Kenny entered the season in the best shape of his life.  Kenny ran very well in the early season workouts cutting off major amounts of time from his previous best times.  Kenny broke into our top times on the South Mahomet loop run for seniors.  Kenny opened up his senior year with a 19:50 at the Charleston Invitational.  Kenny's time was his lifetime best 3 mile time by 2 minutes and 40 seconds.  Kenny's positive attitude and energetic personality help lead our team in practices and meets.  Kenny
made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September.  Kenny continued to run great efforts in his workouts and it paid off at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational where he ran another lifetime best.  He improved another 14 seconds from his lifetime best and 2 minutes and 54 seconds from his previous best at the PND invite.  His time of 19:36 earned him the #25 spot on our team's most improved over a career list with a lifetime improvement of 4 minutes and 8 seconds.  Kenny had an amazing race at the East Peoria Invitational where he broke into the 18's for the first time.  He raced to a 18:37 which was a 2 minute and 8 second improvement from his 2013 East Peoria race time.  He improved 59 second from his season best.  Kenny had the biggest season improvement of anyone on our team.  He is a great example of a determined runner for our younger runners to learn from.  Kenny made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October.  Kenny ended his high school career on an excellent note.  He ran a lifetime 3 mile best by 1 minute and 32 seconds.  This was the biggest improvement of anyone from our team at the Conference meet.  He ran a time of 18:04.  This moved him up to #13 on our team's most improved over a career list with a 5 minute and 40 second improvement in his career.  Kenny earned our team's most improved runner award in 2014.  He improved 4 minutes and 26 seconds from his last year's time to his best time this year.
