As a Sophomore, Charlie joins us after transferring from Minnesota. Charlie showed a great amount of determination in the first month of practice.  His work ethic helped him get in shape quickly.  Charlie revealed he is both mentally tough and a great team runner.  Charlie opened up his career at the Charleston Invitational where he ran a 23:05.  A solid start for a new runner to the sport.  Charlie had an incredible race at the Springfield Invitational.  He cur off more time than anyone on our team despite racing on a very challenging course.  He ran a 20:07 for a 2 minute and 56 second improvement in just one week.  Our program has rarely seen such an improvement as this.  He is quite a hard worker in practice which has been paying off in the meets.  Grant had another big race at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He ran a lifetime best effort of 19:27.  He not only broke into the 19s for the first time but did so by improving 42 seconds from his previous personal best.  Charlie earned his way onto our team's most improved over a career list.  We look at a runner's first high school race and their best 3 mile time.  If they can improve over 3 minutes they make the list.  We have had very few runners make this big of a jump in their career.  Charlie improved 3 minutes and 38 seconds in just 3 races.  He earned the 37th spot.  Charlie also earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September.  Charlie ran his 2nd best race of the season at the Metamora Invitational.  He ran in the 19s again with a 19:52.  Charlie finished his season with his second fastest time of the season at the Conference meet.  Charlie ran a 20:05 on a challenging course.  Charlie earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October.  Charlie also earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in November.   Charlie and his teammates earned at medal at the State meet for placing 2nd.
