   As a freshman, Joey joined us with great experience at the junior high level.  Joey ran XC for all three years in the junior high.  He was part of the team that placed 4th in state in 8th grade.  Joey has a great amount of talent and it shows.  He ran very well in his first race at the Charleston Invitational.  He placed 10th in the open race and helped them win the 12 team invite.  He earned his first high school medal and made it onto our team's 15 fastest freshman times list for the Charleston Invite.  He also earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September.  Joey ran an excellent race at the Springfield Invitational.  He ran a 11:33 to place him 11th to earn a medal.  He helped his team win the freshman team championship at the Springfield Invitational.  He ran fast enough to earn a spot on the fastest freshman time list for the Springfield Invite.  He earned enough letter points after his 2nd race to earn his first varsity letter.  Joey ran a lifetime best at 18:01 at the East Peoria Invitational.  He earned a spot on our team's fastest freshman times list at the East Peoria Invitational.  Joey went on to run an 18:29 on our challenging home course in our 1 team Mahomet-Seymour Invitational.  He ran the 16th fastest freshman time any MS runner has run on our home course. Joey ran a lifetime best at the Metamora Invitational where he broke into the 17s for the first time in his life.  He ran a 17:30 which was the 11th fastest time we have had for a freshman at this invitational.  He earned a spot on the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List for October.  Joey placed 20th in the Conference open race to end a great season. 
    As a sophomore, Joey really took off this summer.  He ran over 700 miles.  He joined our 700 mile club and earned the title of being captain.  Joey looked extremely strong in the early weeks of practice.  His summer miles really showed.  Joey opened up the season with a 18:59 at the Charleston Invitational.  His time was fast enough to earn him the 16th spot on the fastest sophomore times list for the Charleston Invitational.  Joey earned a spot on the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders list in September.  Joey ran a lifetime 3 mile personal best at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational with a time of 18:14.  He improved an amazing 46 seconds on his season best time to run that.  Joey helped his fresh/soph team place higher than we have ever had a Mahomet team place at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  Joey went on to run a 19:28 at the East Peoria Invitational.  His team won the team championship trophy.  Joey earned enough varsity letter points after this meet to earn his second high school varsity cross country letter.  His time also earned him a spot on our team's fastest sophomore list for this invitational.  Joey
earned his way onto the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders list in October.  Joey ran a strong race at the Metamora Invitational.  He ran a 18:17 which was fast enough to earn him the 15th fastest spot on our team's fastest sophomore list for the Metamora Invitational.  Joey earned his way onto the News-Gazette's prep cross country leaders list in November.
    As a junior, Joey came out stronger than ever.  Joey ran in the top 10 of our strong team for most of our early practices.  His hard work paid off as he opened up his race season by running a 17:18 at the Charleston Invitational.  Joey beat every other team's #5 runner in the invitational showing just how strong of a runner he is.  Joey earned his way onto our fastest junior top times list at the Charleston Invitational.  He ran a lifetime best and improved 1 minute and 44 seconds from his last year's Charleston Invite time.  Joey went on to earn a spot on our team's sub 30 South Mahomet Loop run club.  Joey
made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September.  Joey ran a strong race at the Springfield Invitational.  He earned a medal by placing 4th.  It was the first time a Mahomet team went 1st through 4th in the open race thanks to Joey's help.  Joey ran a 17:34 which earned him a spot on our team's top fastest junior times list.  Joey helped his team win the Springfield Invitational open race team title.  Joey earned enough letter points after the Springfield race to earn his third high school cross country letter.  Joey ran a solid time at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational despite the heat.  He ran a 17:59 which was a 15 second improvement from his 2013 PND invite time. Joey ran a super race at the East Peoria Invitational where he broke into the 16s for the first time.  He joined our team's 16 minute 3 mile club.  Joey ran a 16:49 which was fast enough to earn him the 16th fastest junior time on our top times list for the East Peoria Invitational.  Joey ran a 31 second improvement from his best and a 2 minute and 39 second improvement from his time at the East Peoria Invite just one year ago. He had the most improvement of any runner our on team.  Joey earned our team's scholar/athlete award for his strong academic success.  Joey made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October.  Joey had an incredible improvement in just one year at the Metamora Invitational.  He improved 1 minute and 46 seconds in just one year to run a 16:31.  Joey's time was a season best by 18 seconds.  Joey ran very well and earned the 14th fastest spot on our team's fastest junior times list at this invite.  Joey ran an excellent race at the Conference meet.  He ran a lifetime 3 mile best time of 16:44.  This was a 34 second improvement.  Joey improved 1 minute and 30 seconds from his best sophomore time.  Joey helped his team win the Conference open race in a big way.  He placed 3rd in the open race as his team placed 5 runners in the top 6 of the race.  Joey had such a strong season that he earned a spot on our team's State series team roster.  In the next week he joined our Old Dog club by breaking 5 minutes in the mile for the first time.  He ran a 4:58 which was an 11 secnod drop in time.  Joey ran well at the Regional meet with a time of 16:50.  This was a great effort just seconds off his personal best 3 mile time.  He helped our team win the Regional.  He also helped our team run the fastest top 7 runner average for any Mahomet team we have had run in the Regional meet in 45 years.  Joey earned a spot on the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in November.
    As a senior, Joey showed great strength and determination in his first month of workouts.  He helped push the top pack in many of the most challenging workouts.  Joey opened up the season with a 17:57 at the Charleston Invitational.  This earned him a spot on our team's fastest senior times list for the Charleston Invitational. 
He earned himself a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list in September.  Joey ran a great race at Springfield.  He improved 43 seconds from his last race to run a 17:14.  His time was fast enough to earn him the 17th spot on our team's fastest senior times list at the Springfield Invitational.  He helped lead his team with a 8th place finish in the open race.  This earned him a medal and helped his team get 2nd place.  He earned enough letter points after his second race to earn his 4th varsity letter in cross country.  He has been quite a leader on our team for the past four years.  Joey had an amazing race at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  Joey was our only runner in the open race.  It took a lot of courage for him to race by himself in a starting box next to a team with about 100 runners.  Joey set his mind on running great and it paid off.  Joey ran a season best of 16:45.  This was a 29 second improvement.  He earned the 18th fastest spot on our team's fastest top senior times list for the PND Invite.  Joey ran a 17:27 at the East Peoria Invitational.  He helped push his teammate to a solid time.  Joey earned the 22nd spot on our team's fastest senior times list at the East Peoria Invitational.  Joey came back after an injury to run the Conference meet.  He ran a 17:34 despite still being injured to finish an amazing 7 year cross country career.  He finishes his career being one of the fastest junior high and high school cross country runners in our school over the years.   also earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October and November.  Joey earned out team's scholar athlete award for his great grades the previous year.  Joey and his teammates earned at medal at the State meet for placing 2nd.
