Alex Keeble ran the fastest time we have recorded at the Springfield Invitational in the past 12 years.  He ran the 2nd fastest time ever run at this invitational by any runner from any school in the past 49 years.  He ran the fastest time in the past 40 years.  There have only been 8 runners ever break into the 14s on this challenging course since it was created by any runner from any school in any meet run on that course throughout the season.  Alex joins the elite group.

Mahomet-Seymour placed 4th in the Varsity race out of 69 teams (63 full teams and 6 partial teams). 
They competed against 3 of the top 10 A State ranked teams, 8 of the top 20 AA State ranked teams, and 8 of the top 19 AAA State ranked teams.  There are 3 classes in cross country.  The only 3 teams to beat Mahomet are ranked in the top 25 in the Nation.

Charlie Grant earned the 37th spot on our team's most improved over a career list.  We look at a runner's first high school 3 mile race compared to their best overall 3 mile time in their high school career.  Charlie Grant ran a lifetime 3 mile personal best of 19:27 which gave him a 3 minute and 38 second career improvement for 37th on the list.

Alex Keeble ran a 14:36.0 which broke our former school record of 14:41 set by Mark Johnson on this same course in the 1974 State meet.  Mark Johnson went on to earn All-American status in college in both cross country and track.  Alex Keeble also had our former school record one year ago with a 14:41.

Metamora Invitational:
Our team won the team championship in the Varsity race out of 26 teams (21 full teams and 5 partial teams) with a very low score of 26.  This moved the team record to 143 - 3.

Our runners showed great depth by placing our top 5 runners in the top 10 in the Varsity race and 7 in the top 13.

Alex Keeble won with a time that placed him #8 in the all-time course records for this course by any runner from any school at any meet on the course in the past 50 years.  He ran a 14:37.7.

Andrew Walmer broke into the 14's for the first time.  He became the 8th runner in the 46 year history of the Mahomet-Seymour XC program to break into the 14s.

Ryan Hodge ran the 2nd fastest sophomore time ever run by any Mahomet runner in any race in the past 46 years.

Bryson Keeble broke into the 15's for the first time.  He became the 6th freshman runner in the 46 year history of the Mahomet-Seymour XC program to break into the 15s.

Conference:
The team won the Conference meet for the third year in a row.  This is only the 3rd time we have won the conference since joining the Cornbelt Conference meet in 1986.

Our team won the Conference meet with 20 points.  This is our lowest team score ever in the Cornbelt Conference meet.
Alex Keeble was the Conference meet varsity champion.  He set the Conference meet record which has been run since the 1970s with a time of 14:36.  The previous meet record was set by Dan Nielsen in 1990 with a time of 15:03. 
Alex also broke the course record which was previously held by a runner that went on to run in the 2012 Olympic Trails. 

Our team won the open race at the Conference meet with 17 points.  (15 points is the perfect score)

Sectional
The team won the Sectional meet for the 4th year in a row.  Despite the horrible cold, wind, and rain the team ran a strong race.  They represented our team and school well.

Our top 7 runners were senior Alex Keeble, junior Gabe Pommier, junior Brian Butcher, sophomore Ryan Hodge, sophomore Riley Fortune, freshman Bryson Keeble, and freshman Mathias Powell.

State

The team earned the Runner-up State Meet trophy.  Each of our 25 runners earned a State Meet medal for being part of a State placing team. 

This is the second time in our 46 year history that Mahomet-Seymour cross country team has had a team win a State trophy by placing in the top 3 teams.

Our final record was 199 wins and 4 losses.  They only suffered 1 loss to a AA team all season.  The 3 AAA teams that beat them this year were all ranked in the top 25 in the nation at the time.  The AA team that beat them at State ran the 2nd fastest top 5 runner average at State by a AA school since 1971.

Andrew Walmer and Alex Keeble earned a second medal by placing in the top 25 runners at State.

Our team set several important team records showing continued improvement from previous years of our program.
Our team had the lowest top 5 team time average that any of our Mahomet team's have had since joining this meet with an average time of 15:17.55.  Our previous best was 15:18.5 in 2014.
Our team had the 2nd lowest top 7 team time average that any of our Mahomet team's have had since joining this meet with an average time of 15:26.9.  Our best 1s 15:26.5 in 2014.
Our team scored the lowest points we have ever scored at the State meet with 121 points.

Andrew Walmer ran the fastest junior time ever by a Mahomet-Seymour runner at the State meet with a 14:47.45

This ties our team record for the most amount of All-State runners in the same year with two. (Andrew Walmer & Alex Keeble)

Alex Keeble became one of only 4 Mahomet runners ever to qualify for State all 4 years.  He also became one of only 5 Mahomet runners ever to be a two time all-State runner.


Junior Andrew Walmer, Senior Alex Keeble, Junior Gabe Pommier, Senior Jack Hyde, Junior Brian Butcher, Junior Ben Craw, and Sophomore Ryan Hodge were our 7 finishers.
Sophomore Riley Fortune, Freshman Bryson Keeble, Freshman Mathias Powell, Sophomore Garret Williams, and Sophomore Joe Churm were our State alternates.
