2015 News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September, October, & November
   As a Freshman, Nate joins us with three years cross country experience at the junior high level.  At the junior high level he ended his 8th grade season as one of the top runners on a 7th in the State placing team which shows his ability as a runner.  Nate handled the adjustment to the harder high school workouts and longer runs with very smooth transition.  Nate opened his freshman season with a time of 20:34 at the Charleston Invite.  This solid first race reveals he is a talented runner who can run well against other team's varsity runners.  Nate ran an amazing race at the Springfield Invitational.  He worked his way up the field to place 14th.  This earned Nate his first high school cross country medal.  Nate's time was a 48 second improvement for his lifetime best.  Nate helped his team win the Springfield Invitational freshman team title.  Unfortunately due to a sprained ankle Nate wasn't able to race in the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  Nate had an amazing race at the East Peoria Invitational where he ran a lifetime best.  He broke into the 19s for the first time with a time of 19:58.  Nate had a 36 improvement from his previous best.  Nate earned enough letter points after the East Peoria Invitational to earn his first high school cross country Varsity letter.  Nate had an amazing race at the Metamora Invitational.  Nate had a 1 minute and 10 second improvement from his lifetime best to run a 18:48.  He broke into the 18s for the first time.  This time was fast enough to earn him a spot on our team's fastest freshman times list for the Metamora Invitational.  Nate ran a lifetime 3 mile best at the Conference meet with a 19:34.  His time was a 1 minute improvement from his previous 3 mile best.  He ended his freshman season well as a varsity letter winner and by running a personal best.  Nate also went on to earn his way onto the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders list in October.
    As a sophomore, Nate opened up his season at the Springfield Invitational.  He ran a very strong race on a tough course.  He was near his lifetime best time with a time of 19:57.  He helped his team earn the runner up team position.  He ran 6th for his open team. Nate ran another solid race at the Peoria Note Dame Invitational.  He showed a lot of determination in the race.   He ran a 20:26.  Nate helped his fresh/soph team place 10th.  Which is the 2nd highest team score we have had in 15 years.  Nate ran a solid race at the East Peoria Invitational.  He ran a 21:03 helping his fresh/soph team win the invitational.  Nate made his way onto the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders list in September.  Nate had a season best time at the Metamora Invitational where he ran a time of 19:25.  This was a 32 second improvement which is a huge jump.  Nate helped his team run the fastest overall team average at this invitational where they won the meet.  Nate ran the 30th fastest sophomore time that Mahomet has had at this meet.  Nate finished his sophomore year with a season best time of 19:12 at the Conference meet.  He improved 13 seconds from his season best.  He ran 22 seconds faster than his conference time just one year ago.  Nate also ended his season well by earning enough letter points to earn his second high school cross country varsity letter.   Nate earned his way onto the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders list in October.  Nate
also earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in November.  Nate and his teammates earned at medal at the State meet for placing 2nd.
