As a sophomore, Nate came into the season very prepared.  He ran 400 miles in the summer to join our team's 400 mile club.  He ran almost every day in the summer.  He quickly showed he is a great runner as he handled the workouts well.  Nate improved about 4 minutes from his early season time trials to his first meet.  He ran a 17:46 which is an amazing first time.  He earned the 24th spot on our team's fastest sophomore times list at the Charleston Invitational.  Nate earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list in September.  Nate helped his team win the Springfield Invitational with the lowest team score ever (16 points).  He placed 10th in the race to earn himself a medal.  He earned his first high school XC varsity letter after this meet. Nate ran strong enough to earn himself a spot on our team's fastest top sophomore times list for the Springfield Invitational.  Nate ran a lifetime best despite the wet course at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He ran a 17:29 for a 17 second improvement.  He earned a spot on our team's fastest senior times list for the PND Invitational.  He beat 43 number 5 runners at this 72 team invitational showing that he would be in 43 of the top teams in the State varsity top 5 runners.  Nate placed 24th in a field of about 1000 runners in the open race.  This was the 5th highest finish of any Mahomet runner in the open race in the 17 years we have run on the course.  Nate ran a great race at the East Peoria Invitational.  He ran in a pack with his teammates.  The four of them led the majority of the race and they won the team title.  Nate ran a season best of 17:28.  Nate's time earned him the 29th spot on our team's fastest sophomore times list at the East Peoria Invitational.  He earned a medal for his 6th place finish.  He showed he is an incredibly strong runner.  Nate also earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in November.  He earned a medal for being part of our State championship team.  He earned our team's scholar athlete award for his high grades.  He earned a spot on the final News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in December.
