   As a Freshman, Gabe joins us with junior high cross country and track experience.  Gabe ran 6th, 7th, and 8th grade cross country.  Gabe had a strong summer of running.  He ran over 500 miles.  We have only had 1 other freshman ever accomplish this feat.  He joined our 500 mile club.  Despite Gabe being young, he stepped right into our top group in early season workouts.   Gabe opened up his high school career with a 16:58 at the Charleston Invite.  This was fast enough to earn him the 3rd fastest time on our fastest top 15 freshman times list for the Charleston Invitational.  Gabe ran 6th for our team.  He helped his team win their 1st invitational for the season.  He also helped his team run the fastest top 7 team average of any Mahomet team at this invitational.  Gabe earned his first high school medal by placing 19th.  Gabe ran an excellent race and lifetime personal best at the Springfield Invitational 2 mile race.  He ran a 10:38 to earn a spot as our 2nd fastest freshman ever.  He won the individual meet championship and helped lead his team to the freshman race team championship.  He earned a medal at this invite.  He earned his first varsity letter early in the season.  Gabe made it onto the News-Gazette's prep cross country leaders list in September.  Gabe ran an amazing race at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He ran in the 15's for the first time of his life.  His time of 15:56 is the 3rd fastest freshman time any Mahomet runner has ever run on any course.  Gabe's time is the 2nd fastest Mahomet freshman time at this invite.  Gabe ran 5th for his varsity team and helped them place higher than any Mahomet team ever has at this invite.  He helped his team run the fastest top 5 and top 7 runner average ever at this invite.  He earned IL elite status at this invite from dyestatil.com.  Gabe went on to run 5th again for his team at the East Peoria Invitational.  He ran a 16:16.   Gabe's time earned him the 2nd fastest freshman time on this challenging course.  He helped his team win the invite.  Gabe also earned a medal in the invite by placing 17th.  Gabe broke 5 minute in the mile in practice earning himself a spot in our Old Dog club.  Gabe made his way onto the News-Gazette's prep cross country leaders list in October.  Gabe ran in the 15's again at the Metamora Invitational.  He ran a 15:47 to place 39th.  He earned a medal and helped his team win the invitational.  He also helped his team run the fastest top 7 average of any Mahomet team at this invitational.  Gabe's time earned him the 2nd highest spot on our team's fastest freshman list for the Metamora Invitational.  Gabe's time also is one of only 4 freshmen in the 44 year history of our program to run under 16:00.   Gabe ran well at the conference meet.  He helped his team win the conference championship for the first time in 28 years.  He placed 14th in the meet and only got beat by some of the strongest runners in the state.  He has helped our team earn a 2nd in the State ranking for the past 4 weeks.  Gabe ran a lifetime best at the Sectional meet with a time of 15:53.  This is the fastest 3 mile time for a Mahomet freshman at the Sectional meet.  He placed 4th for the team and helped them win the Sectional meet and qualify for State.  Gabe earned IL Elite status for his performance at the Sectional meet.  He earned a spot on the News-Gazette prep cross country leader list in November.  Gabe ran a solid race at the State meet.  The course seemed to be a little over 20 seconds slower than normal for most competitors due to the recent rains.  Gabe's time of 16:26 would have been about a 16:00 run on a dry course day.  Gabe placed 129th and ran 4th for his team for the day.  He ran the 3rd fastest time for a Mahomet freshman at the State meet.  He ended the season on the top of our team's letter points for freshmen.  Gabe earned our team's most valuable fresh/soph runner award for the 2013 season.  Gabe was selected by his teammates to earn the Brent Johnson true grit award.  He earned this award for training and racing with such intensity.
    As a sophomore, Gabe returned with a solid base of 700 summer miles.  He earned a spot on our 700 mile club in 2014.  Gabe showed he was stronger than ever in early practices.  He was quicker to recover and mentally stronger.  Gabe had a great start to his race season when he ran a 16:19 in the Charleston Invitational.  Gabe earned a medal by placing 16th overall and 7th for the team.  Gabe helped his team run the fastest top 7 time we have ever run at the Charleston Invitational.  His time also earned him the 5th fastest spot on the fastest sophomore top times list for the Charleston Invitational.  He helped his team win the meet championship.  Gabe earned his way onto our sub 30 South Mahomet loop again as a sophomore.  Gabe
made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September.  Gabe ran a solid race at the Springfield Invitational despite working through an injury.  He ran a 17:03 earning a spot on our team's fastest times list at the Springfield Invitational.  He helped his team run the fastest top 7 team average we have ever run at this invitational.  He helped his team beat many State ranked teams to win the team title.  Gabe continued to work through his injury at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He ran another solid time of 17:02.  His time was fast enough to earn him a spot on our team's top fastest sophomore times at the PND invite.  Gabe helped his team place 2nd out of 68 teams.  They beat 19 State ranked teams and 68 nationally ranked teams in the process.  Gabe's 7th fastest time on the team for the season helped our team earn the 45th nationally ranked spot for this week.  Gabe ran in the 16s again at the East Peoria Invite where he ran a 16:48.  This was the 14th fastest sophomore time we have had at the race in 10 years.  Gabe helped his team earn a national ranking of 36th for the week.  Gabe made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October.  Gabe was a two year varsity letterman as a sophomore.  Gabe really did a good job running at the Metamora Invitational despite being injured.  Gabe worked his best in practice to get over his injury and wasn't able to shake it in time for the Metamora race.  Despite that Gabe ran a 17:13 and still ran the 16th fastest time we have had a sophomore run at this invite earning a spor on our team's fastest times list for the Metamora Invite.  Gabe raced at the Conference meet despite not being able to shake his injury.  Gabe ran a 17:41 to place 9th in the open race at the Conferenc meet.  He helped his team win the open race in a big way.  They had 8 of the top 10 runners in the open race showing how strong they were as a total team.  Gabe had a strong enough season that he earned a spot on our team's State meet roster.  Gabe made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in November.
    As a junior, Gabe ran just short of 800 miles in the summer.  He earned a spot on our team's 800 mile club and 1000 York mile club.  Gabe earned the honor of being captain his junior year.
Gabe earned a medal by placing 5th at the Charleston Invitational.  He helped his team win the invitational with 23 points.  He helped his team run the fastest top 5 runner and overall team average at the Charleston Invitational.  Gabe's time of 15:53 earned him a spot on our team's 15 minute 3 mile club.  Gabe's time also helped him earn Illinois Elite Status by dyestat.com.  Gabe ran 26 seconds faster at this invitational compared to last year.  Gabe earned the 4th spot on our teams fastest junior top times list for the Charleston Invitational.  He earned himself a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list in September.  Gabe earned his way onto our Old Dog sub 5 minute mile club as a junior.  Gabe ran a lifetime best at the Springfield Invitational with a time of 15:39 on a very tough course.  He placed 3rd overall behind his teammates.  He helped lead his team to the lowest score, lowest top 5 runner average, lowest top 7 average, and lowest total team average at this invitational by a Mahomet team.  He earned a medal with his 3rd place finish.  He earned the 3rd fastest spot on our top times list for juniors at this invitational.  He earned Illinois Elite Status by dyestat.com.  He earned enough points to earn his third high school cross country varsity letter.  Gabe earned his way onto our sub 30 South Mahomet loop again as a junior.  Gabe ran a lifetime personal best at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He cut off an additional 6 seconds to run a 15:33.  His time helped him place 60th.  He earned a medal by placing 60th in this high powered invitational.  He helped his team place 4th out of 69 teams.  He helped his team run the fastest top 5 runner and top 7 runner team average at this invitational that any Mahomet team has run.  Gabe earned the 8th highest spot on our team's fastest junior times list for the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He earned Illinois Elite Status by dyestat.com for his performance.  Gabe Pommier ran the 19th fastest junior time ever run by a Mahomet runner at any meet in 46 years.  Gabe ran a strong race at the East Peoria Invitational.  He had a great finish kick to place him 4th overall.  Gabe and his teammates went 1st through 4th in the invite.  Gabe halped his team win the invitational with the lowest score, the lowest top 5 runner average, and the lowest top 7 runner average we have had at this invite.  Gabe ran the 6th fastest time we have had for a junior on this course.  He earned a medal for his high finish and Illinois Elite Status for his great time.  Gabe improved 1 minute and 16 seconds from his last year's race at this invite.  Gabe earned himself a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list in October.  Gabe finished runner-up in our 1 team invite with an amazing time of 15:36 on our most challenging course.  We have only had 2 other runners run faster on this course since 2000.  Gabe ran a season best time at the Metamora Invitational with a time of 15:12.  This earned him Illinois Elite status by dyestat.com.  His time earned him the 5th fastest Mahomet junior time on this course and the 9th fastest Mahomet junior time in any meet on any course in the past 46 years.  He improved 20 seconds from his season best and 2 minutes and 1 second from his time just one year ago at this invite.  Gabe placed 8th overall helping his team win the invite and earning himself a medal.  He helped his team earn the lowest team score (26), lowest top 5 runner average (15:01), and lowest top 7 runner average (15:07) of any Mahomet team at this invitational.  Gabe ran a strong race at the Conference meet.  He helped his team win the meet with the fastest top 5 runner average we have run.  Gabe ran a 15:10 to place 4th.  His place earned him a medal and All-Conference honors.  His time was a 2 miniute and 31 second improvement from his last year's conference time.  It was also his season best time by 2 seconds.  His time earned him the 3rd spot on our team's fastest top times list for juniors at the Conference meet.  Gabe made his way onto our State series roster for the third season.  Gabe ran a smart race at the Sectional meet.  Despite the horrible cold and rain he ran a 15:39 to place 8th.  His place earned him a medal and all-sectional honors.  His time earned him Il Elite status by dyestat.com.  He also earned the 6th spot on our team's fastest junior times list at the Sectional meet.  He helped his team win the Sectional meet advancing them to the State meet.  Gabe also earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in November.  Gabe earned our team's most consecutive days in a row award.  Gabe helped his team win the 2nd place trophy at State.  Despite the pressure of State he ran his best effort of the season with a lifetime 3 mile best of 15:26.  He helped his team run the lowest top 5 runner average at State and lowest team score at State.  Gabe earned Illinois Elite Status for his race and a medal for placing 2nd as a team.  He was the 5th fastest junior Mahomet has had at State. 
    As a senior, Gabe joined us after a great summer.  He ran over 1000 miles to join both our team's 1000 mile club and 1000 York mile club.  He earned the title of being a captain again his senior year.  Gabe helped lead his team in a pack to win the Charleston Invitational with a perfect score.  Gabe and his teammates held a comfortable 15:52 pace where they placed 1st-8th place.  Gabe earned the 4th fastest spot on our senior fastest times list at this invitational.  He earned a spot on our team's 15 minute 3 mile club.  He earned a medal by placing 5th. earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list in September.  Gabe ran in a tight pack at the Springfield Invitational to win big.  They had a spred of 1 second for 6 runners.  Gabe earned a medal for his high finish.  He earned a spot on our team's fastest senior top times list for the Springfield Invitational.  He earned his forth varsity XC letter after this meet.  Gabe had a solid race at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  Despite the course being slow from being wet, Gabe still ran a season best time of 15:42.  He finished 50th overall and helped his team place 2nd in the 72 team invitational.  He helped his team beat 23 State ranked teams and 2 nationally ranked teams. Gabe earned elite status for his time by MileSplit.  He earned the 11th spot on our team's fastest senior times list for the PND Invite.  He ran a season best by 11 seconds.  He earned a medal for his high place.  Gabe ran a season best time of 15:27 at the East Peoria Invitational.  He placed 2nd to earn a medal.  Gabe helped his team win with a perfect score in the 21 team invitational.  He earned the 6th spot on our team's fastest senior times list at the East Peoria Invitational despite not racing all out. Gabe joined our team's old dog sub 5 minute mile club by breaking 5 minutes in the mile. He joined our sub 5 for 5 club.  Gabe broke into the 14s for the first time at the Metamora Invitational.  He ran a 14:48 to become one of only 11 Mahomet runners to break 15 in 47 years.  He broke onto Metamora's top 25 list.  It is a list they kept for 46 years of the fastest runners from any team in any race on that course. Gabe earned the 23rd spot.  Gabe won a medal by placing 3rd.  He helped his team win the 26 team invitational with 20 points.  He earned a spot on our team's 14 minute 3 mile club.  He earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list in October.  Gabe ran strong at the Conference meet.  He won the meet beating out many tremendous runners in the process.  Gabe ran a lifetime best of 14:47.  This was a 54 second improvement from his previous season best 3 mile time.  It was a 21 second improvement from his last year's conference time.  Gabe earned Elite status for his time by milesplit.com.  He earned a medal for winning the meet.  He ran the 2nd fastest senior time at this meet.  He also ran the 2nd fastest conference time of any runner from any school in the history of the conference.  Gabe helped our team to a Regional Championship.  He placed 4th to earn All-Regional status.  He earned a medal for his high finish.  He ran a 15:06 which earned him the 4th fastest time on our team's fastest senior list at the Regional meet.  He earned elite status by Milesplit.com for his great Regional time.  He helped his team run the fastest top 5 and top 7 runner average we have ever had at this meet.  He ran a great race at State despite being at the start of a sickness.  He ran a 15:11 which earned him the 8th spot on our team's fastest senior times list at State.  He placed 27th.  He helped his team win State as a team so he earned a medal for that.  He helped push our team tie 2 State records.  They set the most amount of All-State runners with 6.  Only 2 other teams in 71 years have accomplished this.  They also ran the fastest top 5 team average of any non AAA team in 71 years.  Gabe earned our team's most valuable award and Bulldog award along with his State team.  He earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list in November.  Gabe earned Elite Status from his performance at State.  He earned our team's scholar/athlete award for his high grades.  He went on to earn a spot on the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in December.  He earned First Team All Area Honors.  He went on to run in the Nike Cross Nationals Midwest Regional race despite being very sick where he helped his team place 3rd.  Gabe's team won an at-large bid to qualify for the Nike Cross Nationals in Portland.  Gabe placed 126th at the Nike Cross Nationals with a 17:10 on a very muddy course.  He helped his team place 17th at Nationals.  Gabe helped his team earn a national ranking as high as 13th throughout the season.  In the final rankings his team earned a 17th in the nation spot.
