2017 Meet The Team Mahomet-Seymour Boys Cross Country

As a Junior, Caleb joined us from the track team. Caleb was already a good sprinter and quickly took onto distance. His enthusiasm and strength really helped him right away. He ran 300 miles in the summer to join our 300 mile club. He did well in his first high school race at the Charleston Invitational. He placed 93rd with a time of 20:21. Caleb was one of only a handful of our runners to improve his time in the second meet as the course is significantly tougher. Despite the challenging course, Caleb managed to run a 17 second personal best with a time of 20:04. He placed 37th in the open race out of 116 total runners. Caleb earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September. He ran well at the Peoria Notre Dame invitational. It was a very hot day which slowed everyone's times down. Caleb still managed to run a 21:12. He earned 7 more letter points to help set himself up for a future varsity letter. Caleb ran a lifetime best at the East Peoria Invitational where he ran a 20:02. He was one of only 3 runners on our team that was strong enough to run a personal best on the hot race day. Caleb tied his season best at the Metamora Invitational where he ran a 20:02. He earned enough varsity letter points to earn his first high school cross country varsity letter. Caleb earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October. He earned a spot on the News Gazette Area Cross Country Leaders List in November. He earned a medal for being part of our State championship team.
