As a Junior, Jack came out of running retirement.  He was one of their top runners in middle school.  Despite sitting out he quickly ran comfortably in the top pack on our team.  He ran 400 miles in the summer to earn a spot in our 400 mile club.  He got injured early in the season so we held him out to recover.  Jack had his debut race at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He came out strong and very competitive.  He ran a 19:44 which is a solid first race.  The heat was incredibly warm.  It was so hot they moved up the race to avoid heat issues.  It took a toll on the runners and their times.  Jack earned a spot on the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders list in September.  He ran a season best by over 2 minutes in his second race.  He raced 6th for the team and helped his team win the East Peoria Invitational.  He ran a 17:41 for the biggest improvement on the team. He earned the 32nd spot on our team's junior fastest times list at the East Peoria Invitational.  Jack earned enough letter points after the East Peoria Invitational to earn his first high school cross country varsity letter.  Jack earned our team's scholar/athlete award for his strong grades.  Jack had a season best by 26 seconds at the Metamora Invitational.  He ran 8th for his team helping them win the 29 team invitational.  He ran a 17:!5 which earned him the 30th spot on our team's fastest junior times list at the Metamora Invitational.  Jack ran a 18:41 at the Conference meet to place 35th.  This was a season best 3 mile time.  Jack earned a spot on our team's State meet roster his junior year.  Jack earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October.  He earned a spot on the News Gazette Area Cross Country Leaders List in November.  He earned a medal for being part of our State championship team.  Jack won the fastest new runner award.
