As
a Freshman, Kyle entered our program
with junior high running
experience. Kyle took his summer
seriously and ran 300 miles in the
summer before his freshman year.
Kyle joined our team's 300 mile
club. Kyle's work ethic in the
summer really showed in early
practices as he was able to run some
of the harder workouts that over half
our team couldn't handle. Coming
off a week with an injury Kyle decided
to gut out his race at the Springfield
Invitational freshman race. He
ran a 12:20 for a 28 second
improvement from his previous lifetime
best effort. Kyle placed 13th in
the race and earned his first high
school cross country medal. Kyle
ran 5th for his team and helped them
win the Springfield Invitational
freshman race team title. Kyle
finished his first high school cross
country 3 mile race with a solid time
of 19:09. He earned enough
letter points after the Peoria Notre
Dame Invitational to earn his first
high school cross country varsity
letter. Kyle ran a strong race
at the East Peoria Invitational. He
ran right at his best for the season
with a 19:22. Kyle runs with
such determination in his races.
Kyle had an amazing breakthrough at
the Metamora Invitational where he
improved 1 minute and 8 seconds from
his lifetime best. He just
missed breaking into the 17s with a
time of 18:01. His time was fast
enough to earn him a spot on our
team's fastest freshman times list for
the Metamora Invitational.
Kyle's hard work in practice really is
paying off. Kyle ran a lifetime
3 mile best in his final race at the
Conference meet. Kyle ran a
18:41 which was a 29 second
improvement from his previous
best. Kyle earned himself a spot
on the News Gazette Cross Country
Leaders List in October. As a sophomore, Kyle ran over 600 miles in the summer. He earned a spot on our team's 600 mile club. His summer miles paid off as his times drastically improved. Kyle's work paid off as he ran a 39 second lifetime 3 mile personal best in his first meet out. He ran an 18:02 at the Charleston Invitational. Last season he only made his way onto our top times list for 1 invitational. He broke onto the list his first meet out as a sophomore. He earned the 21st spot on our team's fastest sophomore times list for the Charleston Invitational. He earned himself a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list in September. Kyle had another lifetime best at the Springfield Invitational. He improved another 27 seconds to run a 17:35. He ran the 27th fastest sophomore time we have ever had at this invite showing drastic improvement from last year. He earned a medal by placing 14th in the open race. He ran 5th for his team and helped them earn the runner-up team position. He earned enough letter points after his second race to earn his second cross country varsity letter. Kyle had a 33 second improvement at the Peoria Notre Dame invitational. His new lifetime best was a 17:02. He ran over 2 minutes faster than he did last year at this invitational. He helped his team place 10th out of 50 teams in the fresh/soph race. He earned a spot on our team's fastest top sophomore times list for his great race at the PND invite. Kyle helped his team win the fresh/soph race at the East Peoria Invitational. He just missed earning a medal by 1 place. He placed 16th running 6th for his team. Kyle improved 1 minute and 26 seconds from last year at this invite which was more than anyone else on our team. Kyle earned a spot on our teams fastest top sophomore times list for the EP Invite. He earned himself a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list in October. Kyle tied his season best time at the Metamora Invitational. He ran a 17:02. This was a 59 second improvement from his time last year at this race. Kyle earned the 18th spot on our team's fastest top sophomore list for the Metamora Invitational. Kyle came up with a late season injury. Despite being very injury he mustered up enough will power to race the Conference meet where he ran a 18:57. This was quite an impressive time considering the amount of discomfort he ran through. Kyle once again showed us how mentally tough he is. He improved 1 minute and 39 seconds from his 2014 to 2015 best 3 mile time. Kyle also earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in November. Kyle earned our team's most consecutive days in a row award. Kyle and his teammates earned at medal at the State meet for placing 2nd. As a junior, Kyle had a great summer of running again. He ran 600 miles in the summer and earned a spot on our team's 600 mile club. Kyle had a great start to the season at the Charleston Invitational where he ran a 17:44. This was an 18 second improvement from his time last year at this meet. His improvement is a great sign of how strong of a runner he has become. Kyle earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list in September. Kyle helped his team win the Springfield Invitational open race with the lowest score ever of 16 points. Kyle ran a 18:47 to place 22nd out of 20 teams represented. He earned his third varsity XC letter after this meet. Kyle ran a solid time despite the wet course at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational. He ran a 18:09. He earned a spot on our team's fastest times list for the PND Invitational due to his high finish. He beat 24 number 5 runners at this 72 team invitational showing that he would be in 24 of the top teams in the State varsity top 5 runners. Kyle placed 44th in a field of about 1000 runners in the open race. This was the 5th highest finish of any Mahomet runner in the open race in the 17 years we have run on the course. Kyle ran a 18:59 at the East Peoria Invitational. Kyle helped his team win the invite and earn the lowest overall team total time average we have had in the 12 years running this invite. Kyle ran a 18:00 at the Metamora Invitational. Kyle earned a spot on our fastest junior times list at the Metamora Invitational. He earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list in October. Kyle finished his junior year with his season best time. He ran a 17:40 in the Conference meet. He placed 16th in the open race. He improved 1 minute and 17 seconds from his 2015 conference time just 1 year earlier. Kyle earned a spot on the News-Gazette's November Prep Cross Country Leaders List. Kyle earned a medal at the State meet as his team won the State championship. Kyle earned a spot on the News Gazette's final Prep Cross Country Leaders List in December for his strong time. As a senior, Kyle really did a great job leading his team in the summer running. He ran an impressive 800 miles which earned him a spot on our 800 mile club and 1000 York mile club. He earned the title of a captain. His teammates found him such an asset to the team in the early workouts as he was one of only a few that could run the full distance. He really pushed his teammates and himself. He ran close to a lifetime best at the Charleston Invitational with a 17:53. His time earned him the 31st spot on our fastest top senior times list for this invite. He placed 40th and earned himself a medal. We held him out of his second race for an injury. Kyle earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September. Kyle had a great race at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational. He led our open team and finished just 1 second behind our 7th runner in the varsity race. Kyle ran a 18:!9 which was a great time in the heat. They moved up the open race due to the heat. Kyle earned enough letter points after his second race to earn his forth varsity cross country letter. Kyle earned our team's scholar/athlete award due to his high grades. He earned our team's most consecutive days in a row award for his dedication to his running. Kyle ran a 18:44 in the heat at the East Peoria Invitational. He improved 15 seconds from his last year's time. He was one of only a handful on his team that beat their previous best due to the heat. Kyle ran a strong race at the Metamora Invitational. He ran a season best by 32 seconds. He ran 39 seconds fastest at this year's meet compared to last year on the same course. Kyle ran a 17:21 which earned him the 32nd spot on our team's fastest senior times list for the Metamora Invitational. Kyle ran 8th for the team at the Conference meet. He ran a 17:56 to place 25th. He earned a spot on our team's State meet roster his senior year. He earned a spot on the News Gazette Area Cross Country Leaders List in October. Kyle ran a season best time at the Regional meet with a 17:17. He helped his team advance to the Sectional meet. He helped his team run the fastest top 7 runner average in the 48 year history of our team running in the Regional meet. He earned a spot on our team's fastest senior times list at the Regional meet. He earned a spot on the News Gazette Area Cross Country Leaders List in November. He earned a medal for being part of our State championship team. Kyle running in the Regional meet to give our #4 runner rest made a huge difference to our team's success at the State meet. He allowed our #4 a chance to rest. As a result that runner recovered and cut off 19 seconds from his season best which was enough to help our team win State. While Kyle didn't physically race the State meet, he is one of the main reasons our team won the meet. |
