Peoria Notre Dame Invitational:

Mahomet-Seymour placed 9th in the Varsity race out of 72 teams.
They competed against 11 AAA State ranked teams, 5 AA State ranked teams, and 3 A State ranked teams.

Mahomet beat 3 of the AAA State ranked teams, all of the AA teams including AA #2 State ranked Normal U-High and #4 Chatham Glenwood.

Peoria awarded 60 medal winners.
Mathias Powell, Ryan Hodge, and Riley Fortune all won a medal.

The weather conditions were very hot compared to normal which slowed down the entire field.  Six of our runners still ran season best times. 
Riley Fortune, Bryson Keeble, Ryan Hodge, Jack McHale, Mathias Powell, and Garret Williams ran season bests.

Five of our runners improved their times from last year's Peoria Notre Dame Invitational. 
Ryan Hodge improved 15 seconds, David Wilcoski improved 19 seconds, Kaelan Davis improved 21 seconds, Bryson Keeble improved 25 seconds, and Mathias Powell improved 34 seconds.

East Peoria Invitational:

Mahomet-Seymour placed 1st out of 23 teams (21 full teams).
They competed against 5 State ranked AA schools and 1 State ranked A school.
They beat #2 State ranked Normal U-High, #10 ranked Bloomington, #11 ranked Washington, #17 ranked Normal West, #19 ranked Metamora, and #19 A state ranked Eureka.

East Peoria awarded 20 medals.
Ryan Hodge, Mathias Powell, Evan Burge, Kaelan Davis, and Bryson Keeble all won a medal.

The weather conditions were hot once again which slowed the entire field.  Our boys ran very competitively even though their times don't reflect their strong efforts.

Gaven Williams, Caleb Mason, and Jack McHale had the best improvements of the team.  Gaven, Caleb, and Jack ran season best times.  They definitely showed great determination to be able to run season bests in unfavorable conditions.
Bryson Keeble, Kaelan Davis, Kyle Sheehy, Mathias Powell, and Gaven Williams all showed improvements from their last year's times at this same invitational.  Our team success really is driven by improvements.  These runners helped lead our team at the East Peoria Invitational by improving upon their bests.

Ryan Hodge and Mathias Powell lead the meet by placing 1st and 2nd.  They managed to beat some strong runners including one of the top 10 fastest returning runners from last year (Jared Shuckman from Normal U-High). 

Due to great competitiveness on the parts of Evan Burge, Kaelan Davis, and Bryson Keeble our team managed to beat out #2 State ranked U-High.  Some last minute efforts by these three runners helped our team earn the points needed to win the meet over powerhouse Normal U-High.

Jack McHale and Joe Churm rounded out our top 7 by placing 6th and 7th for our team.

Metamora Invitational:

Our team won the 28 team invitational (23 full teams and 5 partial teams).
They beat 5 other State Ranked teams (U-High, Bloomington, Springfield, Metamora, and Washington).

Ryan Hodge and Mathias Powell placed 1st and 2nd in the invitational. 

Ryan Hodge ran the fastest time any Mahomet runner has run at this invitational in our 10 year history at this meet. 

Ryan Hodge ran the 6th fastest time on this course by any runner from any school in nearly 50 years.

13 of our runners ran season best times.
Mathias Powell, Ryan Hodge, Riley Fortune, Evan Burge, Kaelan Davis, Joe Churm, Kyle Sheehy, Nate Douglas, Joe Taylor, Jack McHale, Caleb Mason, Garret Williams, and Gaven Williams.

Kyle Sheehy improved 39 seconds from his last year's time at this meet.  Mathias Powell improved 22 seconds from his last year's time at this meet.  Evan Burge improved 19 seconds from his last year's time at this meet.  Ryan Hodge improved 13 seconds from his last year's time at this meet.

Six runners ran their lifetime best.  Mathias Powell, Ryan Hodge, Kyle Sheehy, Nate Douglas, Joe Taylor, and Caleb Mason.  Joe Taylor had the best improvement of the team.  He improved 60 seconds from his previous best.  Nate Douglas improved 35 seconds and broke into the 16s for the first time.

Conference:

The team won our first Apollo conference meet.

They won with a low score of 27 points beating out the other 6 conference teams.

Ryan Hodge, Mathias Powell, and Riley Fortune controlled the race to finish 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
Kaelan Davis finished 10th.  Finishing in the top ten helped these four runners all-conference status.  Just missing a spot was Evan Burge who finished 2 seconds out of 10th with a solid effort.

Bryson Keeble and Nate Douglas rounded out our top 7 for the day.  Nate Douglas has really come on strong at the end of the season earning himself a varsity top seven spot.

Kyle Sheehy, Joe Churm, and Garret Williams all finished with competitive races which really exemplified their four year high school cross country careers.  The team depth that they have brought our team over the past four years has helped to give our program a strong reputation.

Jack McHale and David Wilcoski also ran strong races which I was extremely proud of.

Gaven Williams had one of the most impressive runs for the day as he ran a season best despite the course being a slow course.

Regional:

The team placed second in the Regional meet.  This qualified them for the Sectional meet.

There were 7 State ranked teams in the 10 team Regional meet.  Both Mahomet and Normal U-High earned a score or 49 points.  The tie was broken by the fastest 6th place runner. 

Our team set some important team records showing continued improvement from previous years of our program.
Our team had the fastest top 5 runner time average that any of our Mahomet teams have had since joining the Regional meet 48 years ago with an average time of 15:17.4.
Our team had the fastest top 7 runner time average that any of our Mahomet teams have had since joining the Regional meet 48 years ago with an average time of 15:36.8.

Our team had the most amount of All-Regional runners we have had with three runners earning that honor.  Runners have to place in the top 5 of the meet.  Mathias Powell, Ryan Hodge, and Riley Fortune were named All-Regional by placing 1st, 2nd, and 4th.

Mathias Powell ran the fastest time any Mahomet runner has run in the Regional meet with a time of 14:33.
Ryan Hodge ran the fastest time any Mahomet senior runner has run in the Regional meet with a time of 14:39.
Mathias Powell ran the fastest time any Mahomet junior runner has run in the Regional meet.
Riley Fortune ran the 5th fastest time any Mahomet runner has run in the Regional meet with a time of 15:03.

Kaelan Davis broke into the 15s for the first time by running a 15:58.  Close behind was his teammate Evan Burge at 16:11.

Mathias Powell, Riley Fortune, Kaelan Davis, Nate Douglas, and Kyle Sheehy ran season best times.

Riley and Kaelan had a 25 second improvement from their previous season best.  This really helped our team out.  Nate Douglas improved 19 seconds from his previous best to run in the 16s for his second time.

Mathias Powell and Ryan Hodge earned a spot on Metamora's top 25 list for runners running the fastest times on their course.  Any runner from any meet from any school in a time period of over 40 years can qualify for the top 25 times.

Sectional

The team won the Sectional meet for the 6th year in a row.  This qualified the team for the State meet.

There were 8 State ranked teams in the 18 team Sectional meet. 

Mathias Powell, Ryan Hodge, and Riley Fortune placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the Sectional meet.  They earned All-Sectional honors for placing in the top 10 in the race.

Our team ran our 2nd fastest top 5 runner average and 2nd fastest top 7 runner average that any of our Mahomet teams have had since joining the Sectional meet 48 years ago.

Ryan Hodge, Riley Fortune, Bryson Keeble, Evan Burge, Kaelan Davis, and Nate Douglas all ran their season best 3 mile times at the Sectional meet.

Evan Burge broke into the 15's for the first time this season with a 15:58.

Nate Douglas had the largest improvement of the day as he cut off 43 seconds off his previous best true 3 mile time.

State


The team won the State meet.

Mathias Powell, Riley Fortune, and Ryan Hodge all placed in the top 10.  They earned All-State honors by placing 4th, 6th, and 9th.

Our top 5 runners all ran season best 3 mile times which allowed us to win the meet. 
Ryan Hodge improved 4 seconds. 
Evan Burge improved 4 seconds. 
Mathias Powell improved 6 seconds.
Bryson Keeble improved 19 seconds.
Riley Fortune improved 21 seconds.

Kaelan Davis and Nate Douglas were within 5 seconds of their season best despite the muddy course and thicker crowds at State.
