As
a freshman, Karsten joins our team
with junior high cross country and
track experience. Karsten put in
a solid amount of training this
summer. He ran 300 miles and
earned our team's 300 mile club
award. Karsten opened up his
high school career at the Charleston
Invitational. He ran a 20:51 to
place 76th in this varsity meet.
Karsten is known by his teammates for
being resilient. Karsten had a
huge improvement at the Monticello
triangular meet. He ran a 20:07
to place 34th in the meet. This
was a 44 second improvement.
Karsten did a great job running in the
varsity race at the Peoria Notre Dame
Invitational. He had a 41 second
improvement to run a 19:26. He
placed 392nd overall and helped his
team place 35th in the meet.
Karsten had a 20 second season best
improvement at the East Peoria
Invitational. He ran a
19:06. He ran 5th for his team
helping them place 4th as a team in
the fresh/soph race. Karsten
earned enough varsity letter points
after his 4th race to earn his first
high school varsity letter. He
also ran strong enough to earn the
40th spot on our team's fastest
freshmen times list for the East
Peoria Invitational. Karsten
earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep
Cross Country Leaders List in
October. Karsten ran a 19:29 on
a horribly muddy course at the
Metamora Invitational. His time
earned him the 37th spot on our team's
fastest freshmen times list at the
Metamora Invitational. Karsten
ran a 21:29 at the Conference meet on
a very hilly course. He earned a
spot on our team's State meet roster
as a freshman. As a sophomore, Karsten had a great year of training. He ran enough miles in the summer to earn our 300 mile club award. He opened up the season by placing 8th for the team at the Charleston Invitational. He ran a lifetime best time of 18:55. This earned him a spot on our team's fastest sophomore times list for the Charleston Invitational. Karsten earned a spot on the News Gazette's prep cross country leaders list in September. Karsten ran right at his lifetime best at the Springfield Invitational despite it being a much more challenging course. He helped our varsity team place 6th in the meet with over 20 teams. Karsten had another lifetime best performance at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational. He ran a 18:44. Karsten led 95% of the open race for his team. He helped pull his teammate to a lifetime best. His place was the 16th highest finish we have had in 20 years at this invitational in the open race. Karsten earned enough points after this meet to earn his 2nd Varsity letter in XC. Karsten ran right at his season best at the U-High Invitational with a 18:47. His time was fast enough to earn the 25th spot on our team's fastest sophomore top times list at the U-High Invitational. Karsten had a big breakthrough at the Metamora Invitational. He cut off 55 seconds from his best to run in the 17s with a 17:49. His time was a 1 minute and 41 second improvement from his time at this meet last year. His time earned him the 33rd spot on our team's fastest sophomore top times list at this invitational. Karsten ran a 18:54 at the Conference meet on our very challenging course. This was a 2 minute and 35 second improvement from last year's conference meet. He improved more than anyone on our returning team at the Conference meet. Karsten earned a spot on the News-Gazette's area leaders list in October. He earned a spot on our team's State series roster. Karsten won our team's team spirit award. |
