As
a freshman, Kyle joins our team with
junior high cross country and track
experience. Kyle
had a great summer of running.
Despite a summer injury, he still ran
over 300 miles to earn our team's 300
mile club award. Kyle ran in a
nice pack in his first high school
meet. He ran a 17:20 to place in
the top 10. He placed 8th in the
invitational earning himself a
medal. He helped his team win
the 12 team invitational. His
time earned him the 10th fastest spot
on our team's fastest freshmen times
list for the Charleston
Invitational. Kyle earned a spot
on the New Gazette Prep Cross Country
Leaders List in September. Kyle
had a great effort at the Monticello
triangular meet. He ran a smart
race and packed it up with his
teammates where they finished 1st
through 3rd. Kyle took 3rd
overall in the meet. He helped
his team beat the #2 state ranked A
team. He ran a 17:36 at this
meet. Kyle had a 54 second
improvement at the Peoria Notre Dame
Invitational. He ran in the 16's
for the first time with a 16:26.
He earned a spot on our team's 16
minute 3 mile club. He earned a
medal by placing 28th in the
meet. He helped his team place
15th in the fresh/soph race.
Kyle had the 4th fastest time and 5th
highest place by any Mahomet freshmen
runner in 19 years at the invite
showing he is a tremendous
runner. Kyle earned his first
high school varsity letter after the
PND meet. Kyle ran 3rd for his
team in the varsity race at the East
Peoria Invitational. He helped
them place 3rd as a team. He ran a
16:32 to place 21st. His time
earned him the 6th fastest freshmen
spot on our team's fastest times list
for the East Peoria Invitational. Kyle
earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep
Cross Country Leaders List in
October. Kyle ran a super race
at the Metamora Invitational where he
ran a 16:08 on a very muddy
course. He placed 14th overall
in the 28 team invitational earning
himself a medal and the 4th place
trophy for his team. He earned
the 6th spot on our team's fastest
freshmen times list at the Metamora
Invitational. Kyle placed 8th in the
Conference meet earning himself a
medal and All-Conference honors.
He is one of the few freshmen we have
had earn All-Conference honors in 49
years. He placed 8th. He
earned a spot on our team's fastest
conference times list. He earned
a spot on our team's State meet
roster. Kyle ran a lifetime 3 mile
best at the Regional meet where he ran
a 16:16 in a 20 plus mph wind.
He placed 11th overall helping his
team qualify for the Sectional
meet. He earned the 4th spot on
our team's fastest freshmen times list
for the Regional meet. Kyle had
another strong race at the Sectional
meet. He ran a 16:11 to place
21st. He missed qualifying for
state by only 6 seconds. This
was one of the greatest performances
ever by a Mahomet freshman. He
earned the 5th spot on our fastest
freshmen times list at the Sectional
meet in nearly 50 years of our team
running in the Sectional meet.
Kyle earned our team's fastest
freshman award for his freshman
year. He won our team's most
valuable fresh/soph runner award his
freshman year. Kyle won our
team's Brent Johnson True Grit award
his freshman year. Kyle earned
our team's most consecutive days in a
row 3 month award. Kyle earned the
News-Gazette All-Area Special Mention
honors in 2018. As a sophomore, Kyle ran enough miles in the summer to earn a spot on our team's 500 mile club. He ran a fastest enough in our first meet to earn a spot on our team's fastest sophomore times list for the Charleston Invitational. He earned a medal for his high place. He earned a spot on the News-Gazette's prep cross country leaders list in September. Kyle ran with his teammate to a 15th place finish at the Springfield Invitational. This earned him a medal in the varsity race. Kyle's time of 17:04 earned him the 16th spot on our team's fastest sophomore times list at the Springfield Invitational. He earned enough letter points after this meet to earn his 2nd varsity XC letter. Kyle had a nice breakthrough at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational. He broke into the 15s for the first time and ran a lifetime best of 15:51. This was over a half minute improvement from last year. Kyle earned a medal in the fresh/soph race by placing 3rd. This was the highest finish in the fresh/soph race we have had at that invitational in 20 years. He earned the 7th spot on our team's fastest sophomore time at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational. Kyle earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October. Kyle ran in the 15s again at the Normal U-High Invitational with a 15:50. His season best time earned him the fastest sophomore spot for our team's top times list at this invitational. He earned a medal for being runner up in the 13 team meet. He ran the 14th fastest time of any Mahomet sophomore in our 50 year history with his 15:50. Kyle earned another medal at the Metamora Invitational by placing 9th. He ran an impressive 15:16. His time was the 3rd fastest sophomore time we have had at this invitational. It is also the 3rd fastest time by any Mahomet sophomore in any race in our 50 year history. He cut off 35 seconds from his season best and 53 seconds from his time last year at this invitational. Kyle earned our team's 3 month most consecutive days in a row award. Kyle ran a solid race at the Conference meet. He placed 2nd which earned him a medal and All-Conference honors. He ran a 16:19 which was a 33 second improvement from last year. He earned the 14th spot on our team's fastest sophomore list at the conference meet. Kyle earned a spot on our team's State series roster. Kyle ran right at his best at the Regional meet. He ran a 15:19. This earned him the fastest sophomore spot on our team's fastest times list at the Regional meet. He led the team and helped them qualify for the Sectional meet. He placed 4th earning a medal and All-Regional honors. His time was 57 seconds faster than last year's Regional meet. Kyle ran a 16:03 on a very wet Sectional course. He placed 10th which earned him All-Sectional honors and a medal. His time was fast enough to earn him the 11th spot on our team's fastest Sophomore times list at the Sectional meet. He helped his team qualify for State. Kyle proved himself to be one of the fastest sophomores in the State by placing 53rd. He helped his team finish 11th. He ran a 15:54 which was within seconds of his best true 3 mile time. He earned a spot on our team's fastest sophomore times list at the State meet. He earned our team's most valuable runner and bulldog award at our team's awards ceremony. Kyle earned the News-Gazette All-Area 2nd Team honors in 2019. |
