Fastest Top Freshmen Times List for the Normal U-High and Metamora Invitationals.

As a freshman, Alex joined us with junior high running experience.  He showed great improvement in the first weeks of practice.  Alex opened up his season at the Springfield Invitational.  He ran his lifetime 2 mile best by running a 16:06 in the Springfield Freshman Race.  Alex ran well his first high school three mile race at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He ran a 24:03.  This was a great effort as it was the same speed he ran a 2 mile the previous year, but he held that race pace over another mile.  This showed how much work he has done this season to gain the endurance to carry his natural speed for another mile. Alex had some amazing practices heading into the Normal U-High Invitational week.  He inspired the team by his determination.  Alex ran a 24:36 at the Normal U-High Invitational.  This earned him the 38th spot on our team's fastest freshman times list at the Normal U-High Invitational.  Alex had an amazing run at the Metamora Invitational.  He had the largest improvement on the team.  He improved 2 minutes and 51 seconds from his best to run a 21:12.  He passed up the 23s and 22s to run in the low 21s.  Alex ran so fast that he earned the 49th spot on our team's fastest freshman top times list at the Metamora Invitational.  Alex ended his season by running a personal best 3 mile time on our challenging course.  He ran a 23:46 with a great performance.

As a sophomore, Alex had his best summer training.  He earned our team's 300 mile club award.  Alex has shown so much growth as a runner and person his sophomore year.  He has become one of the strongest teammates I have seen in decades.  Alex goes out of his way to  be a supportive teammate.  He has helped build our program with his encouragement and support of his teammates.  As a runner, he has gotten much stronger and his practices have shown so much improvement.  Alex opened his season at the conference meet.  He ran a 27:06.  He was part of the open race championship team.  Alex cut off over a minute in his final race of the season.  He ran a 26:02 at the Monticello Invitational.   He ran with great determination to be able to cut off a minute.  Alex won our 2020 Clydesdale award.  Alex earned his first varsity letter his sophomore year.
