As
a freshman, Gabe joins our team with
junior high cross country
experience. Gabe was very
disciplined in his training over the
summer before his freshman year.
He ran over 300 miles in the summer to
earn our team's 300 mile club award.
Gabe opened up his high school
career at the Charleston
Invitational. He ran a 20:45 to
place 72nd in this varsity race.
Gabe ran a solid race at the
Monticello triangular meet. He
ran a 21:11 to place 40th in the meet.
Gabe ran a season best time of 20:29
at the Peoria Notre Dame
Invitational. He had a 16 second
improvement in that race. He
placed 332nd in the open race.
Gabe had a big improvement at the East
Peoria Invitational. He ran 3rd
for his fresh/soph team helping lead
them to a 4th place team finish.
He broke into the 18's with a
18:52. He had a 37 second
improvement from his previous season
best. Gabe ran strong enough to
earn the 38th fastest spot on our
team's fastest freshmen times list for
the East Peoria Invitational. Gabe
earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep
Cross Country Leaders List in
October. Gabe ran a 19:06 at the
Metamora Invitational despite it being
a muddy mess of a course. He
earned the 34th spot on our team's
fastest freshmen times at the Metamora
Invitational. Gabe ran a 20:42
on a very hilly course at the
Conference meet. He helped pull
his teammate Josh to the same
time. Gabe earned a spot on our
team's State team roster his freshman
year. Gabe earned our team's most
consecutive days in a row 90 day
award. As a sophomore, Gabe had another great summer training under his belt. He ran enough miles to earn our team's 400 mile club. Gabe was sidelined with an injury his sophomore year. He showed great loyalty to the team by showing up to practice to bike with the team and time the team on their interval days. His strong character is shown in his loyalty to his teammates. Gabe has amazing determination and commitment. He earned our team's one year most consecutive days in a row award. He is in the top 10 in the history of our program helping set a high standard for his teammates. As a junior, Gabe came back strong after working through some injuries. Gabe opened up his junior year with a lifetime best of 20:17. He was runner up in our team's open race at the Charleston Invitational. He was even stronger in his second race at the SJO Spartan classic. He had another lifetime best of 18:48. He improved more than anyone on our team. His 1 minute and 29 second improvement was one of the bigger improvements I have seen in just 1 meet. Gabe placed 5th in the SJO open race and helped his team win the meet. Gabe ran another lifetime best at the Urbana meet. He cut off 31 seconds to run an 18:17. He had a tremendous race and won the flight #7 race with a big lead over the 2nd place finisher. Gabe ran 18:29 at the Conference meet. Gabe and his teammates won the open race with a perfect score. They placed 1st through 7th. Gabe ran a lifetime best at the Monticello Invitational where he broke into the 17s for the first time. He ran a 17:57 cutting 20 more seconds off his best. He helped his team win the open race. Gabe earned a varsity letter his junior year. |
