As a freshman, Grant joins our team with junior high cross country and track experience.  Grant had a solid summer training under his belt before breaking his leg in a unlucky twisting of the ankle.  Grant showed great discipline in the first month or more of the season by cross training by himself.  He ran 400 miles in the summer earning our team's 400 Mile Club award.  He didn't run in the first meet as he wasn't cleared yet to run due to his broken leg.  Grant opened up his high school career at the Monticello triangular meet.  He ran well for coming off an injury and missing weeks of training.  He ran a 20:21 to place 35th overall. Grant ran 7th for the team in the varsity race at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He helped his team place 35th in the meet.  He ran a 20:50 in the meet to place 417th overall.  Grant earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October.

As a sophomore, Grant had an injury that sidelined him for the season.  He decided to help the team by being a manager.  Grant showed his loyalty to his teammates by biking with them in practice, timing them on interval days, and showing up to cheer on his teammates in meets.  His loyalty to his teammates was much appreciated.  Grant won our team's scholar athlete award as a sophomore.

As a junior, Grant had an injury that didn't allow him to race or train as he had hoped.  He used his junior season to strengthen his legs back for the future.  Grant won our team's scholar athlete award as a junior.
