   As a freshman, Jonah joins our team with junior high cross country and track experience.  Jonah ran in a nice pack in his first high school meet.  He ran a 17:20 to place in the top 10.  He placed 9th in the invitational earning himself a medal.  He helped his team win the 12 team invitational.  His time earned him the 10th fastest spot on our team's fastest freshmen times list for the Charleston Invitational.  Jonah earned a spot on the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September.  Jonah ran a 18:22 at the Monticello triangular meet.  He placed 12th overall.  He ran 5th for our team and helped our team beat the #2 state ranked A team.  Jonah had a 54 second improvement at the Peoria Notre Dame invitational where he ran a 16:26.  He broke into the 16s for the first time and earned a spot on our team's 16 minute 3 mile club.  He earned a medal for his 26th place finish.  This was the 4th highest fresh/soph finish our team has ever had since we joined the meet in 2000.  He earned the 4th spot on our team's fastest freshmen times list for the PND invite.  He helped his team place 15th in the invite.  Jonah earned his first high school letter after the PND meet.  Jonah helped his team earn the 3rd place trophy in the varsity race at the East Peoria Invitational.  He ran a 17:08 to earn the 21st spot on our fastest freshmen times list at the East Peoria Invitational.  Jonah earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October.  Jonah ran a 16:40 at the Metamora Invitational on a very muddy course.  He helped his team earn the 4th place trophy in the 28 team meet.  He earned a medal by placing 34th.  His time earned him the 11th spot on our team's fastest freshmen times list at the Metamora Invitational.  Jonah ran a 19:26 at the Conference meet on a horribly hilly course.  He made our team's State team roster his freshman year.

   As a sophomore, Jonah ran more miles in the summer than he had before.  Jonah's first meet of the season was the Springfield Invitational.  He helped pace his teammate in the race.  Jonah showed great team spirit and loyalty by helping his teammate run a strong race.  Jonah also paced a second teammate in the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  Jonah helped his teammate run a lifetime best by a minute and a half.  In the process Jonah helped his fresh/soph team place 16th in the 79 team invitational.  He also earned a spot on our team's fastest top sophomore times at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  Jonah earned enough letter points after this race to earn his 2nd Varsity XC letter.  Jonah
ran fast enough to earn a spot on the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September.  Jonah broke into the 16s at the U-High Invitational with a 16:49.  This was a 1 minute and 19 second improvement from his season best.  He helped his team place 2nd in the 13 team invitational.  His time was fast enough to earn him the 10th spot on our team's fastest sophomore times list at the U-High Invitational.  Jonah ran a lifetime best at the Metamora Invitational with a 16:03.  This was a 46 second improvement from his season best.  He earned a medal by placing 32nd.  He helped his team place 3rd in the 29 team invitational.  His time earned him the 10th spot on our team's fastest sophomore times list at the Metamora Invitational.  His time also was the 21st fastest time by any Mahomet sophomore in the 50 year history of our program.  Jonah earned a spot on the News-Gazette's leaders list in October.  Jonah ran a solid race at the Conference meet helping our team win the meet.  Jonah ran a 17:42 on our challenging course.  He earned a spot on our team's fastest sophomore times list for the conference meet.  He ran 1 minute and 44 seconds faster than he did at last year's conference meet.  He earned a spot on our team's State series roster.  Jonah ran a solid time at the Regional meet by running his 2nd fastest time of the year. He ran a 16:26.  This earned him the 16th spot on our team's fastest sophomore times list at the Regional meet.  He helped our team advance to the Sectional meet.  Jonah ran a season best 3 mile time on a very wet course.  He ran a 16:36.  This was fast enough to earn him the 17th spot on our team's fastest sophomore times list at the Sectional meet.  He ran 3rd for our team and helped them qualify for State.  Jonah ran 3rd for his team at State helping them place 11th as a team.  Jonah cut off 30 seconds from his season best 3 mile time to run a 16:06.  His best time was fast enough to place him 72nd.  He also earned a spot on our team's fastest top times list at the State meet.  He had one of the strongest times for a sophomore from any team at the State meet.  He earned our team's most valuable fresh/soph runner award at our awards ceremony. Jonah earned News-Gazette All-Area Special mention honors in 2019. Jonah won our team's scholar athlete award as a sophomore.

    As a junior, Jonah had a solid summer of training until getting an injury.  He showed great determination to make a comeback.  In his first race of his junior year he opened it up with a 17:22 at the Charleston Invitational.  He  earned a medal for his strong race.  He helped his team win the 13 team invitational.  Jonah earned a spot on our team's fastest junior times list at the Charleston Invitational.   Jonah continued to work hard at improving in workouts and looked his strongest in workouts of his career.  He improved at the SJO Spartan Classic where he ran a 16:33.  He earned our team's 16 minute 3 mile award for the year.  Jonah helped his team win the invitational.  Jonah and his teammate took the first two spots in flight #2 at the Urbana Meet.  Jonah came away with being the meet champion of Urbana's meet flight 2.  He helped his team win the meet.  Jonah earned our old dog award in 2020.  Jonah ran well at the Conference meet.  He ran a 16:38 at the Conference meet.  This was fast enough to earn him a spot on our team's fastest junior times list at the Conference meet.   He placed 7th.  This was fast enough to earn him a medal and an All-Conference honors.  He helped his team win the team title.  Jonah ran a 16:42 at the Monticello Invitational.  He earned a spot on our team's State series roster.   He earned a varsity letter for his junior.  Jonah showed what a strong competitor he is at the Regional meet.  He won the #4-5 runner flight.  He took the lead at the start and dominated the entire race.  Jonah was able to place extremely high in  the meet out of the 2nd flight.  He helped our team win the Regional meet and advance to the Sectional.  He earned a spot on our team's fastest junior times list at the Sectional meet. 
Jonah won our team's scholar athlete award as a junior.  Jonah ran well for our team at the Sectional meet.  He earned a spot on our team's fastest junior times list at the Sectional meet.   He helped our team place 4th and qualify for the unofficial State meet.  Jonah ran a great race at State.  He got up in the lead pack from the start and ran a gutsy middle of the race.  His finish kick was helpful as it gave him a 56th place overall finish.  Jonah earned a spot on our team's fastest junior times list at State.  He helped his team place 2nd at State.
