As
a freshman, Joseph joins our team with
junior high cross country and track
teams.
Joseph had a great summer of
running. He ran over 400 miles
to earn our team's 400 mile club
award. Joseph ran in a nice pack
in his first high school meet.
He ran a 17:20 to place in the top
10. He placed 10th in the
invitational earning himself a
medal. He helped his team win
the 12 team invitational. His
time earned him the 10th fastest spot
on our team's fastest freshmen times
list for the Charleston
Invitational. Joseph earned a
spot on the News Gazette's Prep Cross
Country Leaders List in
September. Joseph ran a 17:51 at
the Monticello triangular meet.
He placed 7th overall. He ran
4th for our team and helped our team
beat the #2 state ranked A team.
Joseph had a 30 second improvement at
the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational
where he broke into the 16's for the
first time. He ran a 16:50 to
earn a spot on our team's 16 minute 3
mile club. He placed 52nd in the
meet which was one of the highest
fresh/soph finishes we have had in the
meet in 19 years. He earned the
14th spot on our team's fastest
freshman times list at the PND
invitational in the 19 years we race
the meet. He helped his team
place 15th in the meet. Joseph
earned his first high school varsity
letter after the PND meet.
Joseph had a personal best at the East
Peoria Invitational where he ran a
16:34. He placed 22nd in the
varsity race helping his team earn the
3rd place trophy. He earned the
9th spot on our fastest freshmen times
list at the East Peoria Invitational.
Joseph earned a spot on the
News-Gazette Prep Cross Country
Leaders List in October. Joseph
helped his team earn the 4th place
trophy at the 28 team Metamora
Invitational. He ran a 17:23 on
a very muddy course. He earned
the 23rd spot on our team's fastest
freshmen times list at the Metamora
Invitational. Joseph ran a 18:51
for a top 20 finish at the Conference
meet. It was a horribly hilly
course. Joseph helped his team
place 2nd in the meet. He earned
a spot on our State team roster as a
freshman. Joseph ran a selfless
race at the Sectional meet.
Despite being hurt he ran in the
Sectional meet to improve our team's
chances of making the State
meet. He did help us to place
6th in the Sectional meet. He
showed such courage and loyalty which
is highly admired. He earned the
15th spot on our team's fastest
freshmen times list at the Sectional
meet in nearly 50 years of our team
attending the meet. Joseph
earned our team's most consecutive
days in a row 3 month award. As a sophomore, Joseph had a good summer of training. He stepped up to help lead the team at the Charleston Invitational where Joseph and his two teammates ran stride for stride. He earned a medal with his high place. His time of 17:00 earned him a spot on the fastest top sophomore list for the Charleston Invitational. He earned a spot on the News-Gazette's prep cross country leaders list in September. Joseph ran with his teammate to a 16th place finish at the Springfield Invitational. This earned him a medal in the varsity race. Joseph's time of 17:04 earned him the 16th spot on our team's fastest sophomore times list at the Springfield Invitational. He earned enough letter points after this meet to earn his 2nd varsity XC letter. Joseph had a nice breakthrough at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational. He ran a lifetime best of 16:26. This was over a half minute improvement from last year. Joseph earned a medal in the fresh/soph race by placing 23rd. This was the 4th highest finish in the fresh/soph race we have had at that invitational in 20 years. He earned the 14th spot on our team's fastest sophomore time at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational. Joseph earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October. Joseph broke into the 15s for the first time at the U-High Invitational. He ran 3rd in the invitational to earn a medal and to help his team place 2nd in the 13 team invitational. Joseph had a 30 second improvement. His time was fast enough to earn him the 3rd spot on our team's fastest sophomore times list at the U-High Invitational. His time was also the 17th fastest sophomore time by any Mahomet runner in 50 years. Joseph cut off another 21 seconds at the Metamora invitational to run a 15:35. This was a 1 minute and 48 second improvement from his last year's time at this meet. His time earned him the 6th fastest time on our team's top sophomore times list at the Metamora Invitational. He helped our team place 3rd in the 29 team invitational. He earned a medal by placing 15th. He also ran the 10th fastest time by any sophomore from Mahomet in the 50 year history of our program. Joseph earned All-Conference honors by placing 3rd in the Conference meet. He earned medal for his high place. He ran a 16:27 to earn the 16th fastest spot on our team's fastest sophomore times list at the Conference meet. He improved 2 minutes and 24 seconds from his last year's conference time. He earned a spot on our team's State series roster. He ran in the 15s again at the Regional meet. He ran a 15:53 which was the 4th fastest time any Mahomet sophomore runner has run at the Regional meet. He helped his team qualify for the Sectional meet. Joseph earned our team's 6 month most consecutive days in a row award. Joseph ran a 16:45 at the Sectional meet on a very wet course. He earned the 21st spot on our team's fastest sophomore times list at the Sectional meet. He helped his team qualify for State. Joseph placed 115th at State to help his team place 11th in the meet. He earned a spot on our team's fastest sophomore list at State. He earned our team's most valuable runner and bulldog award at our team's awards ceremony. Joseph earned News-Gazette All-Area Special mention honors in 2019. Joseph won our team's scholar athlete award as a sophomore. As a junior, Joseph had a tremendous summer of running. He earned our 1100 mile club award. He earned our York 1000 mile club award. He earned the title of captain. He showed how determined he is in his training. He earned our team's most consecutive days in a row 1 year award. He opened up his season at the SJO Spartan Classic where he ran a 16:28. He helped his team win the meet. Joseph pushed the pace at the Urbana meet. Joseph and his teammate placed 1st and 2nd in flight 2. Joseph was runner-up in the flight 2 race of the Urbana meet. He helped his team win the meet. Joseph earned our old dog award in 2020. Joseph had a super competitive race at the Conference meet. He battled for the top spot and ended up placing 3rd. He earned a medal and All-Conference honors for his high place. He broke into the 15s with a 15:57. He earned our team's 15 minute 3 mile runner award. He earned a spot on our team's fastest junior times list for the Conference meet. He helped our team win the Conference Meet. Justin ran a 16:42 at the Monticello Invitational. He earned a letter as a junior. He earned a spot on our team's State series roster. Joseph ran a very competitive race at the Regional meet. Joseph and his teammate Kyle ran in the lead pack of four for the majority of the race. Joseph placed 4th which earned him a medal and All-Regional honors. This is an incredibly hard feat. Joseph earned a spot on our team's fastest junior times list at the Regional meet. He helped our team win the meet and advance to the Sectional meet. Joseph won our team's scholar athlete award as a junior. Joseph ran well at the Sectional meet. He earned a spot on our team's fastest junior times list at the Sectional meet. He helped our team place 4th in the Sectional meet and qualify for the unofficial State meet. Joseph really ended his season well. He placed 27th in the State meet which is a huge jump from his 115th place last year. He barely missed All-State honors showing he is one of the top distance runners in the State. Joseph earned a spot on our team's fastest junior times list at the State meet. Joseph helped his team place 2nd at State. As a senior, |
