PRE-SEASON NEWS WINTER WARRIORS
RUNNING CLUB
The winter running club starts the day
after cross country ends. It is an informal running club intended to
keep the group motivated and running in the off-season. The group meets
in the locker room after school. Anyone is welcome to join. The
winter running club is run by our runners. Winter Warriors Running Club.
SUMMER RUNNING CLUB
During the summer of 2009, Ryne Swenson
ran over 300 miles over the
summer. That is an average of 4.1 miles per day. John Butcher,
Caleb Johnson, Dan Lewis, Lucas Prather, and Jonathon Schaap ran over 400 miles. That is an average of
5.5 miles per day. Elijah Johnson and Henry Wolf ran over 500 miles. That is an average
of 6.95 miles per day.Tray Kipp ran a streak of over 400 days in a row. He committed himself to running at least 1 mile a day. Dan Lewis and AJ Hay have an ongoing streak of over 100 days. 2009-10

Invitational. **

thanks to James Reed (2011) who scanned all the yearbook pictures from 1970

am in search of old meet records, team pictures, end of the year awards

Robert Beach (2004), Andrew Kumler (2008) and Taylor Sebestik (2004) recently ran in the Illinois half marathon in Champaign, Illinois in April. Blake Colclasure (2007) ran the full marathon at this race. Scott DeWitt placed 1st in the Fisher 5K in his age group this July. Scott DeWitt placed 2nd in the Wilderness run.
Justin
Sebens (2007) is running his third year of XC and track for Carthage College
this season. He has run 1st or 2nd for his team throughout the 2009
season.
Jacob Mahaffey (2009) is running for Carthage College during the 2009-2010 season. He has run 1st or second for his team throughout the 2009 season. Coach Gary Garrison (father of Neal Garrison)
is being inducted into the Illinois Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches
Hall of Fame this coming January. After 40 years of coaching at 3 schools,
Gary will be honored for his significant accomplishments as a coach and his
contribution to the sport. Each year the ITCCCA inducts about 7 coaches
a year to be in the hall of fame. The list is small but includes many
great college and high school coaches. Coach Gary Garrison currently
is a volunteer XC coach for Mahomet-Seymour, an assistant Track coach for
Mahomet-Seymour, and Illini Heat Track coach in the summer. He is often
asked to speak at track clinics throughout the State to educate other coaches.
