Our team set several important team records showing continued improvement from previous years of our program.
They scored 22 points which is the lowest team score our team has had since joining this invitational in 2005.  Our previous best was 33 points in 2013. 
Our team had the lowest total team time average that any of our Mahomet team's have had since joining the meet with an average time of 18:25.6.  Our previous best was 18:30 in 2012.
Our team had the lowest top 7 team time average that any of our Mahomet team's have had since joining the meet with an average time of 15:51.4.  Our previous best was 16:27 in 2013. 
Our team had the lowest top 5 team time average that any of our Mahomet team's have had since joining this invitational with an average time of 15:43.6.  Our previous best was 16:09.8 from 2012. 

Junior Alex Keeble, Sophomore Andrew Walmer, Senior William Wolf, Junior Jack Hyde, Sophomore Brian Butcher, Sophomore Ben Craw, and Sophomore Gabe Pommier were our top 7 finishers for this invitational. 
Brian Butcher was our team's fastest number five runner ever at this invitational with a time of 15:59.  Our previous best #5 runner was James Williams in 2013 with a 16:32.  This is extremely important as your team score isn't stopped until the #5 runner from your team finishes.  Brian also was the lowest place ever for a #5 runner at this invitational.  Brian placed 8th.  This was Brian's first time ever being in the top 7 on his XC team since he started XC in 6th grade.

Kenny Pauley earned a place on our team's most improved over a career list.  We look at a runner's first high school 3 mile race compared to their best overall 3 mile time in their high school career.  Kenny Pauley ran a lifetime personal best of 19:50 which gave him a 3 minute and 54 second career improvement for 28th on the list. 

Alex Keeble ran the fastest junior time ever by a Mahomet-Seymour runner at this meet.  Alex also ran the fastest time for any Mahomet runner at this invite (all grades included) with a time of 14:58.  Our previous best was Jonathan Schaap from 2012 with a time of 15:42.  Jonathan placed 10th in State that same year.

Alex Keeble broke the previous course record set by Riley McInery of Charleston from 2012 of 15:07.  Riley went on to set the 2 mile State meet record in track that spring.  Unfortunately, Alex got beat by 1 second by Caleb Hummer from Danville who is predicted to be in the top 5 in State this year.

Jack Hyde and Brian Butcher broke into the 15's for the first time with a 15:58 and 15:59. 

Alex Keeble broke into the 14's for the first time on a 3 mile course.

We have only had 9 runners ever run in the 15s on this course in the past 10 years.  This year we had 5 runners on the same race day accomplish this feat.

Meet highlights
Our varsity looked incredible taking 5 of the 8 spots against four AA State ranked teams and one A State ranked team.  They scored the lowest points ever recorded by any team in the past 11 years.
Alex Keeble was meet champion.

Our freshman team dominated as they had all 6 of our runners in the top 14 of the race. 
Riley Fortune was meet champion.

Our open team won as they earned the top 4 spots in the race. 
Jackson Powell was meet champion.
The race of the day was by Ryan Huff won passed about 15 to 20 runners in the last mile to put our team in first place.  Stret Beal and Tristan Ray placed 6th and 7th for the open team helping as bumper points as well.

This was the first time any team has won all 3 team titles and individual titles.  It really shows how hard of workers this team is for our entire team.  We don't have a single runner on our team that isn't an extremely hard worker.

Tristan Ray moved up 3 places on our team's most improved over a career list.  We look at a runner's first high school 3 mile race compared to their best overall 3 mile time in their high school career.  Tristan Ray ran a lifetime 3 mile personal best of 21:48 which gave him a 4 minute and 38 second career improvement for 20th on the list.

The local coaches have kept records for this course by class for any invitational ever run on the course.  They have records from at least the 1970s.  Alex Keeble ran the second fastest junior time ever run on this course for any meet.  Andrew Walmer earned the 14th fastest sophomore time ever run on this course by any runner from any team at any meet.

Peoria Notre Dame Invitational:
Mahomet-Seymour ran one of the greatest races in the 45 year history of our program by placing 2nd at the PND Invitational. 
Alex Keeble ran one of the greatest races in the 45 year history of individuals in our program by running a 14:41 to tie our school record.

The Peoria Notre Dame Invitational brings in the top teams from the State (and some teams from outside our State).  It is one of the only chances teams get to run on the State meet course.  Schools travel from as far South as the St. Louis area and North as Chicago.  Most of the meet consists of the largest and best cross country schools in the State.  Many of these teams have placed high or won the XC national meet in recent years including York, Palentine, Nuequa Valley, O'Fallon, and so on.  69 boys teams showed up.  21 State ranked teams showed up (3A #2 Orland Park Sandburg, #5 O'Fallon, #7 York, #8 Loyola, #12 Hershey, # 15 Naperville North, #19 St Charles East, #20 Maine South, #25 Barrington, 2A #2 Mahomet, #8 West Chicago Wheaton Academy, #13 Springfield, #15 Sacred Heart Griffin, #17 Chatham Glenwood, #19 Normal U-High, #22 Hindsdale South, #25 Lincoln Way West, 1A #6 SJO, #7 Monticello, #11 Pleasant Plains, #20 Olympia).  Our boys represented Mahomet well by beating 3 nationally ranked teams including legendary programs like York (who has won 28 State titles, 12 runner up trophies, and 4 third place trophies in the past 52 years) and winning the 2nd place trophy.

Our varsity looked incredible beating 61 full teams and 6 other teams represented.  Mahomet beat 19 of the 20 other State ranked teams that were at the meet including 8 AAA State ranked teams, 7 AA State ranked teams, and 4 A State ranked teams.

Our freshman/soph team placed 24th and were led by Ryan Hodge who just missed a medal.

Our open team ran well but no team scores were kept. 

Alex Keeble tied our school record with a time of 14:41.

Kenny Pauley moved up 3 places on our team's most improved over a career list.  Kenny ran a lifetime personal best of 19:36 which gave him a 4 minute and 8 second career improvement for 25th on the list.

Alex Keeble ran a 14:41 which tied our school record set by Mark Johnson on this same course in the 1974 State meet.  Mark Johnson went on to earn All-American status in college in both cross country and track.

Alex Keeble was the individual meet champion.  He was our team's first meet champion at this invitational as it traditionally is won by the State champ.
